Daily Announcements

Attention all students:  This is a final reminder that registration for next year's classes ends Tuesday, March 5th.  As a result, all changes to next year's schedules and forms, including opt-out, early grad, and P.E. waivers, should be submitted by March 5th as well.

 

Mock Trial Club will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27, after school in Mrs. Kochis’ room.

 

Attention seniors considering IVCC next year:  IVCC representatives will be here on March 5th during 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period to help with freshman counseling registration and placement testing appointments.  You cannot sign up for classes at IVCC without these appointments.  Please sign up in the LP Counseling office today.

 

Interact club is having our next meeting Tuesday, February 27th at 7:15am in room 224. We will be discussing our Charter Ceremony. 

 

Attention GSA: There will be a meeting tomorrow after school in Mr. Makeever's room, #331. Hope you are able to make it!

 

A representative from the Air Force will be in the Commons on Wednesday, February 28th during all lunch periods.  Stop at the table if interested.

 

FAFSA is a graduation requirement.  Jenna from ISAC will be here on Thursday, February 29th from 10:30 to 12:30.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.

Any senior who has completed at least 6 semesters in social science is eligible for the Bertusi Award and may pick up an application for the award from Mr. Woods in room 124. The deadline to return the application is March 13th.  The test will be taken on March 27th at 3:00 in room 124.

 

Attention Seniors, if you received A’s both semesters in US History or Honors US History you are eligible to take a comprehensive examination in American History to determine a winner for the Knights of Columbus Award. The test will be given in Room 124 at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 20th. Talk to or email Mr. Woods if you plan on taking the test.

 

There will be a TOPS meeting Tuesday, February 27th right after school in the health room. Everyone is welcome. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Blessman.

 

Congratulations to Boris Khoroshylov for winning the intramural ping pong tournament. Michael Niemiec finished 2nd while John Ricci came in 3rd. There will be an intramural 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Thursday, March 14 starting at 6:00 in the Sellett gym. Sign your team up outside the PE office. Any questions, see Mr. Keating.

 

Are you interested in architecture, design, mechanics, or engineering? If so, there is a Tech Club meeting in room E115 in the East Gym ACC Wing this Thursday after school until 4:15. Everyone is welcome.

 

Girls soccer tryouts are Monday 3-5pm at the LP complex.

 

Attention Sophomores and Juniors: We have an exciting opportunity called CAVS Day coming up at LP on March 7th and March 8th ! We're planning a special event to help students overcome barriers you may face in your day-to-day lives.  Students will participate in games and discussions to increase self-esteem, promote a positive culture, and create a sense of belonging throughout the building.  Please check your email for additional information.   If interested in participating, please contact Mr. Miller via email.

The Illinois Valley YMCA has openings for Lifeguard Training.  For more information on the dates and times, check the bulletin board outside the Counseling Office.

Attention juniors and seniors: Would you like the opportunity to earn up to $205?  Then consider signing up to be an election judge.  Upcoming Election Days are March 19th and November 5th.  Students can get an application from any social science teacher.  Turn them into Mr. Woods when completed.

 

Howdy LP! Ell Ess Pe is proud to present A Wild West Sadie Hawkins! This year’s Sadie Hawkins Dance is on Saturday February 24th at 7pm. So bust out your boots, dust off your hat, and come on out to enjoy a night of dancing with your friends! Tickets will be sold for $10 at all lunches starting this Wednesday , February 14th and ending next Wednesday, February 21st. See any Yearbook staff or Ms. Walke in room 156 for questions.

 

Art Club will meet Thursday, February  22nd after school until 4 pm. We will be working on designs for the local musician murals . Everyone is welcome.

Attention Seniors:  outside the counseling office is a list of seniors that have met the GPA requirement for honor society. If your name is on the list, Mrs. Eichelkraut has sent an email to you with an attached form that you must fill out for the next step. These forms are also available at the Greeter’s Desk. The forms are due in the Principal’s Office no later than Wednesday, February 21st.

 

Attention Seniors:  The Illinois Valley Hispanic Partnership Council scholarship is now available.  It is under the LP Scholarships on the website.  The deadline is March 18th

 

Attention LP Students! The last day to buy a Yearbook for the school year is this Friday, February 23rd. After Friday, the Yearbook will no longer be available for purchase. Order through Jostens.com this week to receive the discounted price!

 

Good morning students! We hope you are enjoying the Sadie Hawkins spirit week and are cozy in your pajamas today. As a reminder, tomorrow is Student/Teacher Flip. So students dress like teachers, and teachers dress like students. Thursday is Character Day. Come dressed as your favorite movie or TV character. And Friday is Class Colors day. Freshmen are in red. Sophomores are in green. Juniors are wearing black. And Seniors are wearing white. Teachers will be repping their best grey outfits. Sadie Hawkins is this Saturday, the 24th at 7pm! Ell Ess Pe will be selling tickets today and tomorrow during all lunches. Tickets are $10. You must bring your ticket and your student ID to the dance. Talk to Ms. Walke in room 156 with questions. See y’all there!

 

This is a Forensic Science Club Meeting Thursday in room 308 after school.  Bring in your serial killer speed dating worksheet.

Summer driver education registration forms are now available in the Counseling office.  The deadline to register is February 23rd.  Please stop in soon to register.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Cherveny in the driver ed room. 

 

Attention seniors:  This is a reminder that the Roger J. Chamlin Memorial Scholarship is due on Tuesday, February 27.  Check your email for more information.

To all students attending the Sadie Hawkins dance on Saturday, February 24th, the following guidelines will be followed:

  • Picture ID cards are required in addition to the admission fee. All L-P students must have a current L-P ID. No student or guest will be admitted without a valid picture ID card.
  • Students will remain in the dance area and will not be readmitted if they leave.
  • The dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m.  Students must arrive by 8:00 p.m.
  • All school rules are in effect during dances.
  • In order for a student to attend the dance, he/she must be in attendance on Friday, February 23rd  by 10:00 a.m.
  • Students on social probation will not be allowed to attend.
  • The LP administration has the right not to admit any student who is not in good standing. LP administration has the right and responsibility to exclude any student or guest from attending a dance if it believes that this individual poses a safety risk or is disruptive to the educational environment.
  • All students bringing a non L-P guest to the dance must have had a completed “Guest Request Form” on file in the dean’s office by Friday, February 16th .

TOPS will meet right after school on Tuesday, February 13th in the health room. If anyone has questions, please see Mr. Blessman.

 

If you still want to purchase valentines to be delivered this week, please see Mrs. Liebhart or Mrs. Theisinger in the World Language hallway.

Key Club and Interact Club are hosting a Blood Drive at LPHS this Thursday, February 15th from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If you signed up, please return your consent form to the Greeter's Desk as soon as possible, in order to participate. We are hoping to have a successful drive this week, as each donation saves 3 lives. 

 

Sadie is right around the corner.  If you plan to bring a guest from outside of our LP student body, please stop by the School Safety office anytime to get a Guest Request Form.  They will be due on February 16.

 

Hello seniors!  This is a final reminder that the majority of LP scholarships are closing tomorrow, February 13 at 1:00 p.m.  Please see your counselor with any questions and visit the counseling website for a complete listing.

 

Attention seniors: The counseling office would like to celebrate your acceptance to college, trade school, military, or the work force.  Please visit the counseling office to participate in our Acceptance Board for a chance to win a gas card.

For any student looking to continue on their fitness journey, come join us after school! Mr. Spudic will be in the weightroom and Ms. Gibson will be in the cardio room. Come down right after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays. It does not matter if you are brand new with no experience or have been working out for years or whatever your fitness goals may be. We look forward to seeing you!

 

The next Interact Club meeting is Tuesday, February 13th at 7:15am in room 224. We will be discussing the Coldest Night out Team event and our Charter Induction Ceremony.
