LP Board Update -- May 18, 2022

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved the minutes of the April 20, 2022 Regular Meeting and the May 9, 2022 Special Meeting.
  2. Jordyn McCoy and Faith Arkins presented the Student Ambassadors Report.
  3. Received comments from the public, regarding issues such as the Illinois Youth Survey, critical race theory, concerns about library books, social emotional learning, and ESSER funds.
  4. Approved monthly L-P and ACC bills and financial statements.
  5. Sarver presented the Building and Grounds Committee Report.
  6. Merboth presented the Finance Committee Report.
  7. Alcorn presented the Policy Committee Report.
  8. Received correspondence from the Dean Milus Family (father of Beth Hamilton, L-P Cafeteria Employee)
  9. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on L-P’s recent high ranking statewide and in our region on the 2022 US News & World Report High School Rankings, the district’s health insurance renewal plans, and a FOIA request.
  10. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on preparing for graduation, the upcoming end of year staff celebration, completing AP exams, and planning for next year’s student registration.
  11. Wrobleski presented the Athletics & Activities Report, sharing information on the softball team competing for the conference championship and other spring sports updates.
  12. Mentgen presented the ACC Director’s Report, sharing information on the new ACC slogan, annual ACC awards, and total dual credits and certifications awarded to students.
  13. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on recent Communication Office activities and L-P Foundation activities, including Trivia Night and the staffulty cookout
  14. Approved a proclamation thanking the Class of 1967 for the 6th Street Entrance Gifts
  15. Approved authorizing public display of the FY 2022 amended District budget
  16. Approved authorizing public display of the FY 2022 amended Area Career Center budget
  17. Approved awarding JB Contracting Corp the East Gym Parking Lot Lighting Project Contract for $86,451
  18. Approved hiring JB Contracting Corp. for the Kitchen Walk-in Freezer Repair Project for $20,400.00
  19. Approved hiring Ladzinski Cement Finishing Co for the 6th Street Radius Lower Steps and Auditorium Small Step Repair Project for $13,977
  20. Approved the Teacher Laptop Replacement Proposal for $127,023.98
  21. Approved a resolution declaring the sale of the following surplus equipment:
    1. 2008 Ford F-150 Carryall Pick-Up Truck
    2. Tru Shear 8/2500 Shearing Machine
  22. Approved awarding MBR Central ILL Pizza, LLC dba Domino’s Pizza the 2022-2023 Pizza Vendor Contract
  23. Approved awarding Alpha Baking Co., Inc. the 2022-2023 Bread Contract
