LP Board Update -- May 20, 2021

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved the minutes of the April 21, 2021 Regular Meeting and the April 29, 2021 Special Meeting.
  2. Student Ambassador Natalia Rios presented to the Board.
  3. Approved monthly LP and ACC bill and financial statements.
  4. Received correspondence from m Mrs. Cheryl DePaepe thanking the Board of Education for its donation to the LP Foundation in memory of Mrs. Bernadette Huebbe (mother of Mr. Randy Huebbe) and Mr. Norman Westvig (father of Mrs. Jennifer Scoma, grandfather of Mr. Andrew Scoma, and father-in-law of Mr. Tim Tomminello)
  5. Received TIF reimbursements from the City of LaSalle ($22.16)
  6. Sarver presented the Buildings & Grounds Committee Report.
  7. Merboth presented the Finance Committee Report, including a brief presentation from Dr. Wrobleski regarding a ROE budgetary proposal to assist districts in supporting students negatively impacted during the pandemic.
  8. Whalen presented the tentative budget.
  9. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on graduation planning.
  10. The Administrative Team presented to the board on the “Narrowing the Gap” plans for the coming years.
  11. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on L-P’s state scholars, graduation plans, assessments, end-of-year staff celebrations, plans for new candidate hiring, and upcoming summer school enrollments.
  12. Le presented the Athletic Director’s Report, sharing information on the summer sports season, recent extracurricular highlights, and latest updates regarding COVID regulations on athletic activities.
  13. Mentgen presented the Director of the ACC Report, sharing information on the conclusion of the ACC school year, completing dual-credit reports, and a recent soft-skills presentation for students from the local unions, and an upcoming summer camp for seventh- and eighth-graders.
  14. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on recent and upcoming live streams and virtual ceremonies.
  15. Approved authorize public display of the FY 2021 amended district budget
  16. Approved the Downtown Peru TIF Intergovernmental Agreement
  17. Approved to submit HLS #81 Main Building, Tunnel Drain Repairs and Asbestos Abatement/Clean-up for $228,000
  18. Approved submitting application for Main Building HLS #79 Building Permit
  19. Approved submitting application for Auto Shop Building HLS #7 Building Permit
  20. Approved the East Gym/Industrial Ed Building HLS Amendment #14 Statement of Completion
  21. Approved the East Gym/Industrial Ed Building HLS Amendment #16 Statement of Completion
  22. Approved hiring Gorenz and Associates, Ltd. to conduct the following FY2021 audits:
    1. LaSalle-Peru Township High School at a fee not to exceed $19,400
    2. L-P Area Career Center at a fee not to exceed $5,600
  23. Approved increasing external sub pay rate to $18/class period, effective the 2021-2022 school year
  24. Approved increasing external paraprofessional sub pay rate as follows:
    • $12.00/hour for the 2021-2022 school year
    • $13.00/hour for the 2022-2023 school year
    • $14.00/hour for the 2023-2024 school year
    • $15.00/hour for the 2024-2025 school year
  1. Approved increasing summer extra help pay rate as follows:
    • $14.06 for Summer 2021
    • $14.37 for Summer 2022
    • $14.68 for Summer 2023

  1. Approved allocating $22,000 of ESSER funds to the Regional Education of Education to support re-engagement and outreach services from July 1, 2021 thru June 30, 2023
