LP Board Update -- February 18, 2021

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved the minutes of the January 20, 2020 Regular Meeting and the February 1, 2021 Special Meeting.
  2. Student Ambassadors Katelyn Lamps and Natalia Rios presented to the Board.
  3. Bobbi Newell and Tony Beck were recognized for their exemplary work supporting LPHS.
  4. Approved monthly LP and ACC bill and financial statements.
  5. Received TIF reimbursements from Village of North Utica (TIF I - $3,556.26 & TIF II - $1,047.76) and City of Oglesby (TIF I - $3,370.05) for a total of $7,974.07.
  6. Lynch presented the Programs Committee Report
  7. Alcorn presented the Finance Committee Report, during which Mr. Jeremy Stevens presented the proposed band uniform and Mr. John Vezzetti presented a bond report.
  8. Alcorn presented the Policy Committee Report.
  9. Cherpeske presented the Buildings & Grounds Committee Report.
  10. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on the next round of COVID vaccinations at LPHS, plans to reconvene the Reopening Design Team, student registration nearing completion for next fall, updates on the budgeting process, and joining in a statewide superintendents’ letter to the acting head of the US Department of Education to pause standardized testing for the current school year.
  11. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on the number of students participating in remote learning, plans for upcoming spring student celebrations, preparing for handbook updates, and rollout of the 5Essentials survey.
  12. Le presented the Athletic Director’s Report, sharing information on the start of winter sports amid COVID and weather conflicts, preparing for the new spring season, and an update on club activities.
  13. Wrobleski presented the Director of the ACC Report, sharing information on the current ACC student of the month.
  14. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on plans for upcoming virtual celebrations and the upcoming LP Foundation Family Dinner fundraiser at Right Spice on Monday, March 22.
  15. Approved the Resolution providing for the issue, in one or more series, on a taxable or tax-exempt basis, of [Taxable] General Obligation Refunding School Bonds of LaSalle-Peru Township High School District number 120, in LaSalle and Bureau Counties, Illinois, for the purpose of refunding outstanding Obligations of the District and for the levy of direct annual taxes sufficient to pay the principal and interest on such bonds
  16. Approved letting bids:

  1. Conditionally approved a Bus Transportation Proposal ($1,950,048.81)
  2. Approved the FJM Band Uniform Proposal ($73,779.90)
  3. Approved K-Com Technologies, Inc. Proposal for Howard Fellows Stadium Security and Lighting Improvements ($56,845.00)
  4. Approved the BSN Sports Football Uniform Proposal ($18,040.00)
  5. Approved the New Course Proposals:
    1. Sports Medicine I
    2. Sports Medicine II
  6. Approved Student Fees for 2021-2022
  7. Tabled rescheduling graduation to Thursday, May 20, 2021 (plan to keep graduation on Thursday, May 27, 2021).
  8. Approved the PRESS Policies Recommendations (2nd Reading) Issue 106
  9. Approved the following appointments:
    1. Mrs. Elizabeth Grzybowski, Assistant Volleyball Coach, for the 2020-2021 school year (replaces Mrs. Vicki Duttlinger)
    2. Mrs. Stephanie Mickley, Volunteer Assistant Boys Track & Field Coach, for the 2020-2021 school year
    3. Mrs. Emily Carney, Co-Head Cheer Coach, for the 2020-2021 school year (replaces Mr. Tony Hack)
    4. Mrs. Holly Ziegler, Co-Head Cheer Coach, for the 2020-2021 school year (replaces Mr. Tony Hack)
  1. Approved maternity leave for Mrs. Kourtney O’Boyle (English Teacher) beginning on or about Tuesday, August 10, 2021 and ending on Friday, September 17, 2021. Mrs. O’Boyle will be using her accumulated sick days
  2. Approved maternity leave for Mrs. Taylor Krull (Guidance Counselor) beginning on or about Monday, June 21, 2021 and ending on Friday, October 8, 2021. Mrs. Krull will be using her accumulated sick days
  3. Reviewed and retained the Executive/Closed Session Minutes of the January 20, 2021 Regular Meeting and the February 1, 2021 Special Meeting.
  4. Approved the recommended destruction of verbatim audio records from Executive Sessions held prior to September 1, 2019.
