LP Board Update -- December 16, 2020

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Held a Truth-in-Taxation Public Hearing on the proposed 2020 Levy for Fiscal Year 2022.
  2. Approved the minutes of the November 18, 2020 Regular Meeting.
  3. Student Ambassadors Jaidynne Lash and Drew Kalsto remotely presented to the Board.
  4. Recognized Mrs. Newell for her efforts to support LPHS and all of those she works with as the District continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  5. Approved monthly LP and ACC bills and financial statements.
  6. Received the Auditors Report from Mr. Tim Custis, CPA, of Gorenz and Associates.
  7. Received TIF reimbursements from City of Oglesby ($25,100.23 and $193.25) for a total of $25,293.48.
  8. Wrobleski presented the Building and Grounds Committee Report.
  9. Alcorn presented the Finance Committee Report.
  10. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on Peru Mayor Harl working with our art students to develop a city flag and plans for the eventual return to in-person learning.
  11. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on the School Improvement Plan for 2020-2022 with a focus on the themes of connecting students’ high school interests to post-high school plans as well as social emotional learning, developing new ways of connecting with students throughout the remote learning process, honing the second semester schedule, and sharing thanks with the Board of Education for their financial support of the district’s technology needs this year.
  12. Le presented the Athletic Director’s Report, sharing information on the ongoing pause in athletic activities, the latest updates from the IHSA, an activity update on our clubs and other extracurricular programs, the installation of new signage recognizing top teams from LP’s history in our athletic venues, and the 2020 Hall of Honor inductees.
  13. Mentgen presented the Director of the ACC Report, sharing information on being able to have students on campus for certifications and other required in-person programs, recent supply donations from the local Casey’s, and recognizing Mrs. Stiker and Mr. Wiercinski for their students’ 100% success rate in recent certifications.
  14. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on recent communication multimedia projects and LP Foundation activities.
  15. Approved the 2020-2022 School Improvement Plan
  16. Approved the 2020 Hall of Honor Inductees
  17. Adopted the 2020 Tax Levy for School Year 2021-2022
  18. Approved the FY2020 Annual Statement of Affairs
  19. Approved the 2020-2021 Board Paid Holidays
  20. Approved letting bids for transportation of students
  21. Approved establishing a Technology Club activity account
  22. Approved the following resignations:
    • Mr. Patrick Goy, Volunteer Assistant Boys & Girls Golf Coach, effective the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year
  23. Approved the following appointments:
    • Mr. Patrick Goy, Head Girls Golf Coach, for the 2021-2022 school year (replaces Mr. James Cherveny)
  24. Approved the maternity leave for Mrs. Andrea Eichelkraut (School Counselor) beginning on or about May 29, 2021 and ending on or about September 2, 2021 Mrs. Eichelkraut will be using her accumulated sick days to cover the leave
  25. Reviewed and retained the Executive/Closed Session minutes of the November 18, 2020 Regular Meeting
  26. Approved the recommended destruction of verbatim audio records from executive sessions held prior to July 1, 2019
  27. Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the cafeteria union.
