LP Board Update -- November 18, 2020

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved the minutes of the October 21, 2020 Regular Meeting and October 26, 2020 Special Meeting.
  2. Student Ambassador Katelyn Lamps remotely presented to the Board.
  3. Recognized Mr. Beck for his efforts to support LPHS as the District continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  4. Approved monthly LP and ACC bill and financial statements.
  5. Received TIF reimbursements from City of Oglesby ($101,704.47 and $3,256.61), and City of LaSalle ($86,682.79) for a total of $191,643.87.
  6. Alcorn presented the Finance Committee Report with discussion on the proposed tentative 2020 tax levy for school year 2021-2022.
  7. Wrobleski presented the Building & Grounds Committee Report, sharing information on the proposed renovation work to the Dolan Building and Pope Auto Shop Building, the retention wall padding in Howard Fellows Stadium, the relocation of the garbage dumpsters, and update on the Dance Studio construction project.
  8. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on the upcoming RIF Joint Review Committee meeting, the state’s exclusionary discipline report, and plans to implement new work-from-home protocols for staff members.
  9. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on parent-teacher conferences, School Improvement Team efforts, safety drills, adapting to COVID-related issues in the building, and sharing praise for the school’s faculty and staff for their efforts during these trying times.
  10. Le presented the Athletic Director’s Report, sharing information on the conclusion of the fall sports season, the uncertain status of the winter sports season, activities being conducted virtually by clubs, and planning for the 2020-2021 Hall of Honor program.
  11. Mentgen presented the Director of the ACC Report, sharing information on the ACC Student of the Month, health/life/safety work in the ACC buildings, and aviation students taking flights in class and nursing students receiving CPR certifications.
  12. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on recent communication multimedia projects and LP Foundation activities.
  13. Approved adopting the Tentative 2020 Tax Levy for school year 2021-2022
  14. Approved the Lostant Intergovernmental Agreement on Deactivation – 2021-2023
  15. Approved the Howard Fellows Stadium Retention Wall Padding (Dark Grey #140) from Sportsfield Specialties, $17,936.00
  16. Approved the final occupancy permit applications for the East Gym/ACC Renovation Project
  17. Approved the 2020 School Report Card
  18. Approved establishing Girls Golf Activity Account
  19. Approved establishing Boys Golf Activity Account
  20. Approved a resolution to recommend Jamie Maitret as the District 120 selection for IMRF Executive Trustee
  21. Approved the following resignations:
    1. Mr. James Cherveny, Head Girls Golf Coach, effective the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year
  22. Approved the following appointments:
    1. Mr. Kevin Nevismal, Volunteer Band Drill Designer & Visual Instructor, for the 2020-2021 school year
    2. Ms. Annie Ternes, Volunteer Band Woodwind Instructor, for the 2020-2021 school year
    3. Mr. Carter Taylor, Volunteer Band Brass Instructor, for the 2020-2021 school year
    4. Mr. Martin Czernicki, Volunteer Band Visual Instructor, for the 2020-2021 school year
    5. Mr. Andrew Zweibel, Volunteer Band Electronics Specialist, for the 2020-2021 school year
    6. Ms. Abby Shields, Volunteer Band Percussion Director, for the 2020-2021 school year
  1. Reviewed and retained the Executive/Closed Session minutes of the October 21, 2020 Regular Meeting
  2. Approved the recommended destruction of verbatim audio records from executive sessions held prior to June 1, 2019 (May 15, 2019 Regular Meeting and May 29, 2019 Special Meeting).
