LP Board Update -- June 25, 2020

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Held a Public Hearing on the FY 2020 Amended District Budget.
  2. Approved the minutes of the May 20, 2020 Regular Meeting and the May 29, 2020 Special Meeting.
  3. Approved bills and payroll for LPHS and the ACC.
  4. Approved monthly LP financial statements.
  5. Alcorn presented the Policy Committee report.
  6. Alcorn presented the Finance Committee report.
  7. Cherpeske presented the Building and Grounds Committee report.
  8. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on receiving a final extension on the tax levy from LaSalle County, the passage of SB1863 that designates Nov. 3 as a state holiday for Election Day, and shared thanks and farewell to Mr. Marenda and Mr. Sash who are leaving the district.
  9. Approved the FY 2020 Amended District 120 Budget
  10. Approved the resolution authorizing the issues of general obligation school bonds (alternate revenue source), series 2020A, of LaSalle-Peru Township High School District No. 120, in LaSalle and Bureau counties, Illinois, for the purpose of financing the costs of certain capital projects within the District, refinancing certain outstanding obligations of the District, and paying the costs related thereto
  11. Approved East Gym/ACC Renovation Project Change Order 13, Exterior Stair Replacement at the South and West elevations in the East Gymnasium, $75,245.45
  12. Approved the Field of Dreams Project Change Order 1, Concrete Retainment Wall at the North End, $37,500
  13. Approved the School Resource Officer Memorandum of Understanding for 2020-2021, $46,238.40
  14. Approved the Administrator Employee Handbook Tuition Reimbursement Policy
  15. Approved the Class of 2020 activity account resolution
  16. Approved the Superintendent’s bond renewal for 2020-2021
  17. Approved the 2020-2021 Differential Assignments
  18. Approved the 2020-2021 Regular Board Meeting Schedule
  19. Approved the revised 2020-2021 District Calendar
  20. Approved updating Board Policy 3:30 – Organizational Chart
  21. Approved the following resignations:
    • Mrs. Kristie Witte, LEAD Advisor, effective the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year
    • Mr. Paul Lebryk, Science Teacher and Assistant Girls Track & Field Coach, effective the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year
    • Ms. Victoria Duttlinger, Assistant Volleyball Coach, effective the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year
  1. Approved the following appointments:
    • Ms. Betsy Sobin, Reading Specialist, effective for the 2020-2021 school (replaces Ms. Katherine Meyer)
    • Mrs. Stephanie Mickley, Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach, effective for the 2020- 2021 school year (replaces Ms. Madeline Kennedy)
    • Mr. Tony Hack, Head Cheer Coach, effective for the 2020-2021 school year (replaces Ms. Alexandrea Thompson)
    • Mr. Cameron Mignone, Assistant Football Coach, effective for the 2020-2021 school year (replaces Mr. Brian Currier)
    • Mr. Scott Blessman, Assistant Girls’ Tennis Coach, effective for the 2020-2021 school year (replaces Mr. Adam Spencer)
    • Mr. Christopher Saar, Volunteer Assistant Football Coach, effective for the 2020-2021 school year
    • Ms. Victoria Duttlinger, Volunteer Assistant Volleyball Coach, effective for the 2020- 2021 school year
  1. Approved paternity leave for Mr. Michael Heiden (Custodian) on or about August 3, 2020 and returning on or about August 17, 2020. Mr. Heiden will be using his accumulated sick days to cover the 10-day leave.
  2. Approved accepting with regret the following retirement:
    • Mr. Dwayne Mentgen, Director of the Area Career Center, conclusion of the 2023- 2024 school year
  3. Reviewed and retained executive/closed session minutes of May 20, 2020 regular meeting
  4. Authorized the destruction of verbatim audio records from executive sessions held prior to January 1, 2019 per the Illinois Open Meetings Act, 5 ILCS 120
  5. Approved the non-union employee group salaries for 2020-2021
  6. Approved the hourly work schedule for Mrs. Jackie Actis, effective July 1, 2020
