LP Board Update -- March 18, 2020

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved a motion to allow board members to participate electronically in keeping with the recent executive order from Governor Pritzker.
  2. Approved the minutes of the February 19, 2020 Regular Meeting and the February 21, 2020 and March 5, 2020 Special Meetings.
  3. Approved bills and payroll for LPHS and the ACC.
  4. Approved monthly LP financial statements.
  5. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on the response by the school staff to the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing food to families in need, and preparing for the projected return to classes.
  6. Approved awarding the East Gym/ACC Renovation Project asbestos abatement contract to Celtic Environmental Company for $427,248 (Base Bid: $353,248 and Alternate #2: $74,000)
  7. Approved the Howard Fellows Stadium: Field of Dreams contract with Byrne and Jones Construction for $900,450
  8. Approved the 2020-2021 School Fees
  9. Approved IHSA Renewal for the 2020-2021 school year
  10. Approved MOU with Custodial/Maintenance Building Services Employees Local 138
  11. Approved the following resignation:
    • Mrs. Monica Leskanich, English Teacher, effective March 18, 2020
    • Mr. Kevin Keating, Assistant Baseball Coach, effective the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year
    • Mr. Kyle Hines, Science/Physics Teacher, effective the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year
    • Ms. Madeline Kennedy, Temporary English Teacher, Assistant Girls Track Coach and Assistant Girls Basketball Coach, effective the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year
  1. Approved the following appointment:

  1. Approved for the Girls Track Team to attend the team building/bonding campout at the LaSalle-Peru Sports Complex, contingent on when the schedule allows. The team’s booster account will fund the expenses for this campout.
  2. Approved maternity leave for Ms. Paula Tuttle (Band Director) on or about August 10, 2020 and planning to use accrued sick time to take half days from August 10 – 28 and return full time on August 31, 2020.
