LP Board Update -- September 26, 2019

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Held a Public Hearing on the LPHS & ACC Fiscal Year 2020 Budgets.
  2. Approved the minutes of the August 21, 2019 Regular Meeting and September 4, 2019 Special Meeting.
  3. Student Ambassadors Marley Crabbe, Erin Leschewski, and Matt George presented to the Board.
  4. Recognized the LPHS Renaissance Program for their excellent performance and participation at the Jostens Renaissance National Conference.
  5. Jim Cherveny spotlighted the PE/HE/DE Division, presenting on the drivers education program.
  6. Received TIF Reimbursements from the City of LaSalle (IGA TIFs 2nd Distribution), $113, 466.44, and Village of North Utica (TIFS IV, I, and II), $166,184.33.
  7. Lynch presented the Building & Grounds Committee Report.
  8. Morrison presented the Finance Committee Report.
  9. Alcorn presented the Policy Committee Report.
  10. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on the FY 2020 Budget, the upcoming ROE Compliance Review, kicking off the Strategic Planning process, commending Mrs. Cushing on her recent faculty professional development efforts, receiving a very good report from the LaSalle County Health Department in the kitchen, and thanking Crossbridge Community Church providing a free lunch to the faculty & staff.
  11. Marenda presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on recent student recognitions, activities to support students and families, student involvement in community volunteerism, preparing for Homecoming activities, and student enrollment information.
  12. Le presented the Athletic Director Report, sharing information on fall athletic successes, upcoming post-season activities, the eligibility voucher system, commended Mr. Miller for his efforts to support the school’s activities, discussed Homecoming football weather contingency plans, and complimented Ms. Tuttle for her efforts with the Marching Cavaliers.
  13. Mentgen presented the Director of the ACC Report, sharing information on the annual ACC Car Show, a potential new technology internship, and other ACC programs that have been active in the community.
  14. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on fundraising activities and Homecoming week/alumni events.
  15. Approved adopting the LaSalle-Peru Township High School FY 2020 Budget
  16. Approved adopting the LaSalle-Peru Area Career Center FY 2020 Budget
  17. Approved the Area Career Center Joint Agreement Resolution FY 2020
  18. Approved the Salary Compensation Report
  19. Approved submitting HLS Amendment #8 Statement of Completion and Application for Occupancy – Dolan Building, Area Vocational Education Renovation Repair: $23,822.40
  20. Approved the proposal from Universal Asphalt & Excavating Inc. for 6th Street Parking Lot Work: $19,000.00
  21. Approved the Challenge Day contract for January 28-30, 2020: $11,025.00
  22. Approved the Agreement for Services from Advantage Nursing Services, Inc.
  23. Approved LPHS School Profile 2019-2020
  24. Approved the PRESS Board Policies Recommendations (2nd Reading)
  25. Approved the Young Hearts for Life Heart Screening

  1. Approved the overnight trip for the Girls Varsity Lady Cavalier Tennis Team to participate in the 2019 Purple-Gold Tournament in Bloomington-Normal, October 4-5, 2019. This trip is being funded by the program’s camp money account.
  2. Approved the Spring Break Trip for Lady Cavs Softball to participate at the Cal Ripken Softball Complex in Myrtle Beach departing on April 4, 2020 and returning on April 9, 2020. All expenses will be paid through the softball program’s fundraising.
  3. Approved the Varsity Baseball Team to participate at the Metro East Kickoff Invite on March 20-21, 2020 in Edwardsville, IL with an overnight stay. All expenses will be paid through the Booster Club and the Camp Account.
  4. Approved the Varsity Baseball Team to participate at the 2020 Lenz High school Jamboree on March 27-28, 2020 in Jacksonville, IL with an overnight stay. All expenses will be paid through the Booster Club and the Camp Account.
  5. Reviewed and retained executive/closed session minutes of August 21, 2019 regular meeting and September 4, 2019 special meeting
  6. Authorized the destruction of verbatim audio records from executive sessions held prior to March 1, 2018 per the Illinois Open Meetings Act, 5 ILCS 120
  7. Approved the 2019-2020 non-union salary recommendations
  8. Approved the collective bargaining agreement between the LaSalle-Peru Federation of Teachers Local 604 and the LaSalle-Peru Township High School Board of Education District 120
