LP Board Update -- January 2018

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved the minutes of the December 20, 2017 Regular Meeting.
  2. Student Ambassadors Breyer Kinzer and Connor Cofoid presented to the Board.
  3. The LP Renaissance program recognized the Board of Education for their continued strong support of the students and staff of LPHS.
  4. Emily Carney and Andrea Henry spotlighted the Counseling Division, who presented on 4-year planning for students and other Counseling Office highlights.
  5. Received TIF disbursements of $4,511.73 (LaSalle) and $6,536.97 (Oglesby).
  6. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on preparing for the upcoming budget given the implementation of the evidence-based funding formula, the draft 2018-2019 district calendar, and updates on the LP Renovation project.
  7. Jeanblanc presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on the start of the second semester, rolling out a new positive behavioral expectations model, and her New Year Resolution one-word challenge.
  8. Parker presented the Director of Athletics & Activities Report, sharing information on recent athletic & activity accomplishments and upcoming activities, including state series events.
  9. Mentgen presented the ACC/SRAVTE Director’s report, sharing information on an upcoming Corner Café Chili Dinner fundraiser, highlights of the residential wiring program, and the initial feedback on the transitional math course.
  10. Baker presented the Director of Communication & Fundraising report, sharing information on the upcoming Family Ambassadors/Developmental Assets training session on January 25 and the upcoming LP Foundation Trivia Night on March 24 at Senica’s Oak Ridge.
  11. Approved awarding contract for Bid Package #14 Rebid (LPHS Renovation Project) – Trade Package #9.7 to Cosgrove Construction for $128,000 [base bid of $135,000 and alternate 3 to eliminate the weight room for a deduct of $7,000].
  12. Approved awarding contract for Bid Package #15 Multiphase Abatement Rebid (LPHS Renovation Project) to Colfax for $930,600 [base bid of $507,600, alternate 3 for $87,000, alternate 4 for $108,000, alternate 5 for $62,000, alternate #7 for $86,000, and alternate #8 for $80,000].
  13. Approved awarding contract for Bid Package #16 (LPHS Renovation Project) – science casework – to Scott Laboratory Solution for $531,468 [base bid of $540,102, alternate 1 for a deduct of $7,517, alternate 2A for a deduct of $203, and alternate 3A for a deduct of $914 to provide black resin tops in lieu of grey].
  14. Approved the following LPHS Renovation Project Change Orders:
    1. #47 – Phase 3 Classroom Audio Value Engineering ($5,800 credit)
    2. #48 – Miscellaneous Phase 2 Extras ($8,666)
    3. #49 – MDF to IDF 324 LPSD Cabling Revisions ($728 credit)
  1. Authorized the Superintendent to prepare the 2018-2019 Budget.
  2. Approved the 2017 Annual Disclosure Report.
  3. Approved adopting a resolution to authorize notice of intent to withdraw from the Northern Illinois Big Twelve Conference.
  4. Approved accepting the ROE Health Life Safety Compliance Report.
  5. Approved accepting the PSIC Risk Control Compliance Report.
  6. Approved the snow removal services contract renewal with Illinois Valley Excavating, Inc. for 2017-2018.
  7. Approved the following resignations: Mr. Richard Turri (ACC Fire Science teacher), Mr. Bob Stubler (Head Boys Bowling coach), both effective at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 school year, and Mr. Jagun Rimes (Volunteer Assistant Girls Track coach), effective January 18, 2018.
  8. Approved the following appointment: Mrs. Robbyn Partain (ACC Part-time Fire Science Assistant), effective January 18, 2018.
  9. Approved a request for the Key Club’s overnight trip to Springfield on March 9-11 to attend the annual Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Convention Leadership Conference (DCLC).
  10. Reviewed and retained the Executive/Closed Session Minutes of the December 20, 2017 Regular Meeting.
