L-P Board Update -- May 17, 2023

During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 the Board of Education accomplished the following items.

  1. Approved the minutes of the April 19, 2023 Regular Meeting and the May 3, 2023 and May 8, 2023 Special Meetings.
  2. Recognized Student Resource Officer Nick Martin for his role in enhancing school safety and building relationships with students and Mrs. Lori Johnson for her exceptional efforts in growing her program and supporting the mission of the Area Career Center.
  3. The Social Sciences Division was spotlighted with Mr. Troy Woods sharing information on teaching the Founding Documents throughout the division’s relevant courses.
  4. An opportunity for public comment was offered.
  5. Approved monthly L-P, ACC bills, payroll, and financial statements.
  6. Received correspondence from the family of Mrs. April Eutis, the L-P Local 604 Federation of Teachers, and Mrs. Kay Raineri.
  7. Mr. Ferrari presented the Building and Grounds Committee Report.
  8. Mr. Merboth presented the Finance Committee Report.
  9. Mrs. Alcorn presented the Policy Committee Report.
  10. Dr. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on insurance rate increases for the coming year, the LaSalle County kitchen inspection report, and a recent FIOA request.
  11. Mrs. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on graduation ceremony preparation, senior awards, end of the year celebration planning, and the efforts of the associate principals.
  12. Mr. Mentgen presented the ACC Director’s Report, sharing information on Mr. Matt Lee’s efforts to obtain scholarship money for students, preparing for the Summer Showcase and the great work by Mrs. Jeannette Maurice in managing that program, the Fire Science Program’s food drive, the welding programs performance at an IVCC competition, and the Counseling Department’s Cavalier Showcase.
  13. Mr. Baker presented the Director of Communication Report, sharing information on recent and upcoming Communication Office activities, including the upcoming migration of the school website to a new vendor.
  14. Approved a resolution renaming the Alumni Conference Room to the Herbolsheimer Alumni Room
  15. Authorized a public display of the FY 2023 amended District budget
  16. Approved purchasing a 2021 Chevy Traverse from Coronet of Peru for $38,467.26 ($35,532.26 Vehicle Cost & $2,935.00 Warranty)
