LPHS Update Regarding Mask Policy (February 12, 2022)

February 15, 2022

Effective immediately and until further notice, LaSalle-Peru Township High School District 120 is modifying its COVID mitigation to be mask-optional. We are also suspending all other mitigations that have been in place throughout the school year. This is a direct result from a ruling today from the Joint Committee of Administrative Rules (JCAR), a bipartisan committee of the General Assembly, which struck down Governor Pritzker’s request to renew his emergency COVID Mitigation Rules.

The District, however, remains supportive of any staff member, student, or visitor to L-P who wishes to continue wearing a mask and encourages mask usage. The District will NOT tolerate any bullying or intimidation directed toward anyone choosing to wear a mask. We remain committed to providing a safe learning and working environment within the boundaries of the rule of law.

We recognize that today’s action creates more confusion and questions. We are concerned that the situation will remain fluid. As it evolves, the District will continue to monitor events and adjust as necessary. We are hopeful that things will begin to stabilize.

If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact L-P Superintendent, Dr. Steven Wrobleski at (815) 223-2373 or swrobleski@lphs.net.

Sincerely,

Mr. Tony Sparks                              Dr. Steven Wrobleski
