Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Case (August 25, 2020)

August 25, 2020

Dear LP Community,

Late in the afternoon of Tuesday, August 25, 2020, public health officials informed the school district that an individual on the LaSalle-Peru Township High School campus tested positive for COVID-19. In coordination with the LaSalle County Health Department, we have contacted all individuals who may have been in close contact with this person. This is the first confirmed positive case of COVID-19 at LPHS.

Due to this confirmed case, all LPHS and Area Career Center students will participate in classes remotely beginning on Wednesday, August 26 and continue through the remainder of this week. Additional information regarding plans to return to in-person learning will be shared by this weekend.

Students should monitor their official school email accounts for updates from LPHS administration and their teachers.

LPHS staff members will receive additional information from LPHS principal Ingrid Cushing.

Persons who have had close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 or is suspected of having COVID-19 should isolate or quarantine at home and monitor for symptoms for 14 days.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff. Through collaboration and coordination with the LaSalle County Health Department, we will continue to provide any additional information regarding potential COVID-19 exposure to the school community, while also maintaining employee and student confidentiality as required under state and federal law. We encourage all members of the school community to continue using preventative measures to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19, including practicing social distancing and wearing masks.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact LPHS superintendent Dr. Steven Wrobleski at 815-223-2373.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Wrobleski

LPHS Superintedent
