Posted by Matt Baker on 4/4/2018
LaSalle-Peru Township High School is excited to welcome community members to view the latest completed phase of interior work for the LP Renovation Project. A public open house is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
The third floor, west wing and business hallway of the main school building has been renovated to provide more functional, technologically advanced, and energy efficient classrooms for the students of LPHS. Guests will be able to see new classroom technology, improved furnishings, more efficient windows and HVAC system, new lockers, and two restored and re-opened skylights in these sections of the school. In particular, new business labs and classrooms as well as the new family & consumer sciences foods lab will be on display.
The open house will begin with remarks from LPHS Superintendent Steven Wrobleski at 6 p.m. in Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium, but community members are welcome to drop in any time during the open house to view the renovation.
The next phase of interior work is expected to continue into June 2018. It will include the social sciences wing on the first floor and the fine arts facilities on the second floor. The LP Renovation Project is expected to be completed in fall 2018.
The full LP Renovation Project includes fully renovating the interior of the main academic building with special focus on classrooms, as well as completing the infrastructure repairs, such as window/roofing replacement, asbestos/lead abatement, and HVAC/mechanical upgrades, needed to further extend the life of the LPHS main building while maintaining its historical integrity. Voters approved the facility renovation referendum in November 2016. The facility project was designed by Kmetz Architects and Legat Architects. The construction project is being overseen by construction management firm Pepper Construction. Additional renovation planning guidance has been provided by Brownfield Environmental Engineering and AMSCO Engineering.
