This year’s Fire Prevention Week™ theme, “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety™!" it puts the focus on educating students and adults about smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms, their necessity, and how the sounds they make help save lives.

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom. They should also be outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home. Install alarms in the basement and have an escape plan.

Carbon Monoxide alarms (CO alarms) should be installed in a central location outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home and in other locations where required by applicable laws, codes or standards.  Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms once a month. “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety™!"
