Hey students- Do you want to learn new things about the world you live in?  Do you like to give back to your community?  Do you like to do hands on activities related to science?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then check out Science Club.  The first meeting is today, right after school in room 306.  We will be making something special for our local heroes!  See you there!

 

 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will begin meeting Thursday morning this week in room 339 at 7:20.

 

Do you enjoy connecting with your community on a local and international level? Are you interested in making a difference and developing leadership skills? Then, Rotary Interact Club is for you! This is a brand-new club we are starting at LP. Come to our first meeting on September 7th at 7:15am in Room 224 next to the art room. 

 

There will be a GSA meeting TODAY after school in room #331! Hope you are able to make it -- ALL are welcome!

 

Attention seniors:  Make sure you check your email regarding important senior information.  This was sent on Wednesday, August 30th.  If you have not done a Senior Name Check, this is a requirement.  Click on the link in your email to complete.

 

College 101 will be held on Thursday, September 7th during 3rd and 6th hour in the CCR.  This is for seniors to work on post high school applications.  Sign up in the Counseling Office or email Mrs. Wilson.  You will need your chromebook to attend this meeting.

 

The following college representatives will be here this week and next week:

7th hour today – Blackburn College, Carlinville, IL

Monday, September 11: University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL

Tuesday, September 12: 

2nd hour – Quincy University

3rd hour – St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa

6th hour – University of Illinois, Urbana

Interested students can sign up in the Counseling Office to meet with any of these representatives.

 

A representative from ISAC will be here on Thursdays from 10:30 to 12:30 in the Counseling Office.  The first date is September 14th.  This is for help on college applications and FAFSA.  Sign up in the Counseling Office to meet with this representative.

 

The Cavs’ Sip-n-Savor opens today!!  Come visit during your lunch break and purchase a coffee, tea or lemonade in the cafeteria.  Cash only.  Cold drinks are $2.00  Hot drinks are $1.  See you soon!

 

The ASVAB test is once again being offered at LPHS on Tuesday, October 31, for any sophomore, junior or senior student who is interested in participating. The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Career Exploration Assessment is a standardized exam that helps students accurately identify their strengths with the Interest Inventory Skills section. Students DO NOT need to have an interest in the military to take this assessment, however, this assessment is also used to determine qualification and placement within the armed forces. If you are interested in taking this assessment, please contact your counselor to register. More details will be provided to those who register in the week just prior to testing.

 

It’s almost time for Homecoming 2023! Guest request forms for students bringing someone from outside the LP community are now available in the School Safety Office and need to be returned by September 29.

Please keep in mind that there is no student attendance on Friday October 6th ; therefore admittance to the dance will be based on attendance Thursday, October 5th.

 

Variety Show Try-Outs are Tuesday, September 19 at 3:00. Please see Mrs. Hartman in room 338 to register.
