August 28, 2023 announcements

 

Would you like to be a member of an impactful group that creates a positive school culture by recognizing and rewarding students and staffulty? If so, Renaissance is the club for you! Our first meeting is after school on Monday, August 28 in the Cavalier Community Room. New members are always welcome. We hope to see you there!

 

 

Are you interested in being part of the fall play?  The Drama club will be meeting tomorrow, Tuesday August 29th, in room 226 after school. Please stop by for a short informational meeting as we are getting close to auditions.  Any questions, please see Mr. Thomas.

 

 

This is a reminder for any student not currently enrolled in a Fall sport wishing to improve his/her health through weight training has the opportunity after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the Weight Room.  This is for both beginner and experienced weightlifters.  If interested or any questions, please see Mr. Lauer in Room 323 or meet after school in the Weight Room. 

 

 

Attention Freshmen Class: Come and find out what Freshmen Board is all about at our meeting on Wednesday, at 7:30 in room 141. Bring a friend!

 

 

Attention Cavaliers: Whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, are questioning, are a male, a female, or any other uniqueness that defines you, the GSA, or Gay-Straight Alliance, would LOVE to have you attend our meeting tomorrow after school! Tomorrow's after-school meeting will be in room #331, Mr. Makeever's room, and will have the usual freebie snacks, cookies, lots of support and a very safe space to be, well, YOU! Hope to see you tomorrow at the after-school GSA meeting in room #331!

 

 

Attention Seniors: Time to make your mark! On Thursday, August 31st, from 7-7:30 AM and 2:45-3:15, come to the Student Commons to put your handprint on the wall.

 

 

Sophomores: If you would like to be a leader of your class and serve on Sophomore Board, please see Mrs. Liebhart in Room 136. The first meeting will be held Wednesday, September 6th at 7:20 am.

 

Variety Show try-outs will be Tuesday, September 19. Please see Mrs. Hartman in room 338 if you are interested in auditioning.

 

Junior Board will meet Wednesday, August 30th at 7:20 in room 338. Officers will be elected at this meeting.

 

 

LEAD is a group here at LP that stands for Leadership Education Awareness for Disabilities & promotes social inclusion for everyone. We assist with RESPECT Week, the Polar Plunge, & help out with our Special Olympic Athletes. If you are interested in learning more about this group, there is an informational meeting tomorrow morning at 7:15 a.m. and after school tomorrow at 2:45 p.m.  in Room 115. Please see Mr. Pytel if you have any questions.   

 

 

Attention Juniors: If you are interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, October 24, please check your email for important information and instructions from Mr. Gibson regarding the registration process. Registration is open until Friday, September 22 and the cost of the exam is $18. You must register using the Google Form that was sent to your L-P student email address. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gibson.

 

 

Are you interested in 3-D printing, design, mechanics, engineering, or coding?  If so, there is a Tech Club meeting in room E115 in the ACC wing of the East Gym building this Thursday after school. Everyone is welcome.

 

 

Want to design a computer game, create an app, or program using AI? L-P Coders meets Thursdays at 7:15 in room 327. See Mr. Bjerkaas if you can’t make it to the meeting or have questions.

 

 

Do you want to talk to the world on a new L-P student podcast or get involved in video production? Do you want to become a sports broadcaster? Get involved in the L-P Podcast Club. There will be an informational meeting after school on Thursday in room 327. See Mr. Baker if you can’t make it or if you have questions.

 

 

Are you interested in helping your community while developing your leadership skills? Join us for our first Key Club meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, August 29th at 7:15 a.m. in room 135.

 

Attention seniors:  A list of updated college visits is posted on the lphs.net website. You will find it under General Information and then under College and Career Planning.  You can sign up in the Counseling Office to meet with any of these representatives.

 

Attention students if you would like to see what Science Club is all about, then come to our first meeting on Tuesday, September 5th right after school in Mrs. Depenbrock's room 306.
