Are you an aspiring actor or actress? Maybe you like to work with props, costumes, or sets? If this sounds interesting to you please plan on attending a short informational meeting in room 226 on Thursday September 29nd before school at 7:15 or 2:40 right after school. If you are unable to attend either meeting, please contact Mr. Thomas for additional information.

Sophomore Board will meet Thursday, September 29th at 7:20 in Room 136. We will vote on t-shirt designs and launch our pizza fundraiser.
On Wednesday, September 28 – Augustana College will be here 6th hour. Sign up in the Counseling office if interested.
Attention LP students and staff: The Writing Club is hosting a Poetry Slam/Open Mic night on Monday, November 21 from 7 - 8 p.m. in Matthiessen Auditorium. Participants may dramatically read/perform an original or well-known poem, perform a dramatic reading from a novel, or sing an original or well-known song. All work must be submitted for approval by Wednesday, November 16. Additionally, if you would like to display original artwork on this evening, see Mrs. Jenkins. If you have other questions, see Mrs. Phillips or any Writing Club member.
Sign up for the next College 101 on October 5th which includes FAFSA and scholarship assistance. This would be during periods 5a, 5b, or 5c in the Cavalier Community Room. Sign up in the Counseling office. An ISAC representative will be here as well to assist with FAFSA completion.
Book club will be meeting this Thursday, September 29th at 7:15 AM in the Library. We will be discussing our reads from the month and picking new books!
Interested in becoming a member of LP's first mock trial team or learning more about mock trial? Come to our informational meeting on Tuesday, September 27, at 2:45 p.m. in the Cavalier Community Room. This program can help you develop leadership and public speaking skills. You will create arguments and witness questions from a problem published by the Illinois State Bar Association. You will present your case to attorneys and judges at competitions.
Please join Key Club in the Cavalier Community Room at 7:25 on Tuesday morning. We have several projects we will be planning to help our school, community, and the world around us. New members are always welcome!
Attention Freshmen Board: There will be an officers meeting on Tuesday, September 27 at 7:30 in room 141, and a regular meeting on Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 in room 141. We will be going over our first fundraiser.
There will be a Renaissance meeting after school today in the Cavalier Community Room. We will be discussing and planning the upcoming Renaissance Rally. New members are always welcome!
Attention GSA -- there will be a meeting tomorrow after school in room #331. We will finalize getting ready for Thursday's homecoming parade (including the rainbow bales of hay)! Hope you are able to make it.
Renaissance cards were handed out during first period classes last week. If you believe that you earned a card but did not receive one, please contact Mrs. Eichelkraut before or after school.
There will be a Green Team meeting today from 2:40 to 3:30 p.m. in the Student Commons (south end by Hall of Fame wall). We meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. Please see Ms. Lance for more details.
There will an intramural wiffle ball tournament on Wednesday October 12th at 7:00 pm. Sign up your team in the Sellett gym outside the PE office. Any questions, see Mr. Keating.
Come join Technology Club this Thursday, September 29th, after school in the East Gym Buildings ACC Wing room E115. This week we are building and racing mouse trap cars. Come compete for Fastest Car, Longest Distance Driven, and Best Design. If you are unable to make it but are interested in hearing about other activities the club is going to do this year, please contact Mr. Wiercinski. New members are always welcome, Hope to see you there!
Grief is a complex and complicated emotion. After all, it is the body and mind’s natural response to loss. If you are experiencing grief and would like an opportunity to explore and work through this emotion with a small group of students feeling similar, LP counselors will be offering a 6-week Grief Group. If interested in participating, please contact Mrs. Eichelkraut or Mrs. Kowalczyk by October 1st.
Attention seniors: The Spring Valley Walleye Club Conservation Scholarship is a $1500 scholarship for students who demonstrate effective voluntary, long-term dedication to the preservation, protection, enhancement and/or promotion of Illinois’ natural resources. Check it out under the lphs.net page under Illinois Valley scholarships to see if you qualify or stop in the Counseling office.
Attention seniors: The Senior Board is having another personalized yard sign sale. Order forms can be picked up in Mrs. Scoma's room 313. We also have some sizes available of the Seniors '23 t- shirt. If interested, please stop by room 313.
The Variety Show is tonight, Sept. 26 at 7:00 pm. The doors will open at 6:30 pm. Bake sale items and water will be available for purchase. Please come out and support all of our talented performers.
Sound Check for the Variety Show will be from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. All individual acts should plan to be there by 5:00. The Homecoming Court should plan to arrive by 6:00 pm.
To all students attending the Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 1st, the following guidelines will be followed:
- Picture ID cards are required in addition to your ticket. All L-P students must have a current L-P ID. No student or guest will be admitted without a valid picture ID card.
- Students will remain in the dance area until they are ready to leave and will not be readmitted if they leave.
- The dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. Students must arrive by 8:00 p.m. in order to be admitted to the dance.
- All school rules are in effect during dances.
- In order for a student to attend the dance, he/she must be in attendance on Friday September 30th by 10:00 a.m.
- Students on social probation will not be allowed to attend.
- The LP administration has the right not to admit any student who is not in good standing. LP administration has the right and responsibility to exclude any student or guest from attending a dance if it believes that this individual poses a safety risk or is disruptive.
- All students bringing a non L-P guest to the dance must have had a completed “Guest Request Form” on file in the Security office and were due by Friday, September 23rd.
