LPHS is excited to announce the 2021-2022 recipients of the Sons & Daughters of the American Revolution citizenship awards. They are Sarah Peters (DAR) and Aidan Van Duzer (SAR).
LaSalle-Peru Township High School senior Aidan Van Duzer was named the 2021 Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Citizenship Award winner. This high honor is presented to a senior based on the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree. Van Duzer was chosen for this honor by his fellow seniors and by faculty. He will be recognized during the Senior Awards Program in April. Van Duzer is the son of Kyle and Emily Van Duzer of LaSalle.
Mrs. Kowalczyk, Counselor said, “Aidan is such a positive and upbeat individual. He continually strives to do his very best in the classroom and on the athletic field. He is well-liked and respected by faculty, staff, and peers. He is kind to all and willing to help anyone and everyone when needed.”
Van Duzer is involved in many activities at LPHS including football and baseball, and recently became a Harbor Homeroom classroom leader. As for his future plans, Aidan intends to further his education at the post-secondary level, studying exercise science, athletic training, or kinesiology.

Peters was chosen for this honor by her fellow seniors and by faculty. She will be recognized during the Senior Awards Program in April. Peters is the daughter of Jim and Jennifer of LaSalle.
Mr. Spudic said, “Sarah is a leader at school, in the community, and with her athletics. She strives to become the best version of herself and encourages her peers to do the same.”
Peters is involved in many athletics and activities at LPHS: Volleyball, basketball, Track, Renaissance, Link Crew, Choir, and Musical. As for her future plans, Sarah has the goal of attending the Naval Academy to pursue a future in Government and Political Science.
