Ingrid Cushing named next principal of LPHS

LaSalle-Peru Township High School District 120 on Wednesday night approved Mrs. Ingrid Cushing as the next Principal of LPHS, beginning July 1, 2020.

Mrs. Cushing has served LPHS as Associate Principal for Teaching and Learning for the past three-and-a-half years. Before coming to LPHS, Mrs. Cushing served as principal of Grand Ridge Grade School for two years, along with twelve years prior to that as an English/Language Arts and Mathematics teacher.

Mrs. Cushing was selected from a competitive field of four candidates invited to interview on Monday, December 2, 2019. Five interview teams were organized with nearly fifty participants – representing division chairs, teachers, classified staff, students, and parents. All four candidates spent the entire day meeting with the interview teams.

“Mrs. Cushing emerged as the clear number one candidate during the interviews. Her knowledge of LPHS, coupled with a clear hunger to serve as Principal along with a strong humble mindset distinguished her candidacy from the others. Ingrid has earned the respect of the staff and students. She holds herself to the highest professional and ethical standards. I am confident that she will hit the ground running as our new principal,” LPHS Superintendent Dr. Steven Wrobleski said.

Mrs. Cushing will follow Mr. Dan Marenda, who has been serving as LP’s interim principal since July 1. Portrait of Ingrid Cushing.

Mrs. Cushing has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in psychology along with a second bachelor’s in elementary education from Illinois State University. She earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University Chicago.
