LP Renaissance shines at Jostens National Conference

LaSalle-Peru High School Renaissance students attended the 26th annual Jostens Renaissance National Conference from July 12-14 in Orlando, Florida, where they again were recognized with national awards and by leading conference presentations.

While at this conference, Renaissance student officers, along with coordinators Jean Ganze and Andrea Henry, LP Principal Stephanie Jeanblanc, and LP English teacher Shelly Phillips were selected to present three sessions. Two of these sessions were Student Point of Views and were created and presented entirely by students.

The students also received the 2018 Storyteller Award in the School Climate and Culture Revival Video Contest for their 90 second video titled “30 Ideas in 90 Seconds.”

Coordinator Andrea Henry was recognized as a Jostens Renaissance Educator of the Year.

“It’s incredible to feel this much love and support,” Henry said in the spring when the Educator of the Year Award was first announced. “And to know that what I’m doing and what I’ve done has made a difference.”

The Educator of the Year is annually awarded to individuals who have positively impacted the climate and culture of their school through Jostens Renaissance.

When nominating Henry, students wrote, “As an educator, a role model, an inspiration, a team-player, and a friend, Ms. Henry has, and undoubtedly will, continue to actively better our school, community, and nation through empathy, service, and a sincere love and adherence for others, and LP is undeniably a warmer, better place because of her.”
