A message to parents/guardians of current Eighth-grade students who plan to attend L-P in the Fall of 2024 from Mr. Chris Gibson, L-P Associate Principal for Teaching & Learning.
LaSalle-Peru Township High School District 120 will be administering the PSAT 8/9 ® to all current 8th grade students planning to attend our school in the Fall of 2024. The data collected from this assessment, along with a variety of other data sources, will be used by LPHS counselors to place students in the appropriate courses for their freshman year. The test consists of Reading, Writing & Language, and Math sections and the schedule is as follows:
Exam Date: Saturday, October 14, 2023
Location: LPHS – 6th Street Main Entrance
Start Time: 7:45 AM (Doors open at 7:15 AM)
End Time: 11:00 AM (approximately)
Pre-registration IS required for testing. Please use the following Google Form link to complete registration for the test: https://bit.ly/3YM7E3Y. I have also included a QR code that can be used to access the registration form.
The registration deadline is Friday, September 8, 2023. No registrations will be accepted after this date.
The PSAT 8/9 ® is now a digital test and students will be using LPHS devices (chromebooks) to take the assessment. Students should not bring their own electronic device. Students may bring a basic scientific or graphing calculator if they choose, but it is not necessary as there is a built-in calculator function in the test. Students will be provided with scratch paper and may bring a writing utensil should they feel the need. Electronic devices, food, and drink are prohibited during testing.
Busing will be provided from designated locations within district boundaries, which is described on the back of this letter. Due to proximity to the school, buses are not provided for students residing in either LaSalle or Peru.
No make-up testing is allowed. While this test is extremely helpful for placement purposes, it is still only one data point. If your child is unable to attend the test administration, other data from your child’s academic record will be used for placement purposes.
In addition to the test, the registration process, we have included a Home Language Survey which consists of two questions. This form must be completed and returned to LPHS. Students who answer YES to either question may be required to take an assessment at a later date to determine eligibility for English Language services. All students must bring the completed survey form to the testing on October 14, 2023. If your child is unable to attend the PSAT administration, the form should be mailed to or dropped off at LaSalle-Peru High School.
