Preparing for the PSAT/NMSQT
A message to parents/guardians of current L-P Juniors (Class of 2025) from Mr. Chris Gibson, Associate Principal for Teaching & Learning.
I am writing today to inform you of the upcoming PSAT/NMSQT that will be offered at LaSalle-Peru High School on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT. This is a great opportunity for students across the country to prepare for the SAT, generally taken in the Spring of a student’s junior year of high school. The highest performers on this exam are eligible to earn scholarships, and even just becoming a Commended Scholar can be a helpful addition to your student’s college application.
I would like to invite your student to the PSAT/NMSQT administration on October 24, 2023, at LPHS. The exam is roughly three hours in length and will be administered at the high school. There is a nominal fee of $18 to sit for this exam. More logistical details will be provided as we get closer to the exam date.
The registration process will now be done via a Google Form at the following link: https://bit.ly/3EsiOSp I have also included a QR code below that can be used to access the form.
The deadline to register for the PSAT/NMSQT is Friday, September 22, 2023, and the deadline for payment is Friday, October 6, 2023.
I have sent an email directly to all members of the Class of 2025 via their LPHS email account inviting them to participate in this exam. I am providing this letter to you to make sure that you are aware that this opportunity exists for your son or daughter. While this exam is not required, I would recommend that you and your student strongly consider taking advantage of this great opportunity to prepare for the SAT that will be taken next Spring.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
