    Attention Students: The Tireless and Staff Award are given to a Faculty and Staff member who have shown dedication and commitment to the students of LaSalle-Peru High School. These individuals or groups go above and beyond daily to provide our students with an environment that encourages and supports excellence. Nominations for both the Tireless and Staff awards have been sent to student emails. Please nominate as many faculty and staff members as you would like by Friday, November 22.

     

    Attention Renaissance Members: There will be a meeting after school today in Room 327.

    Drama Club will be selling tickets for the Fall Play, Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit during all lunch periods next week, November 18th through November 22nd. LP Students with their student ID and Children ages 3 to 13 are $3, Faculty and Staff and children under 3 are Free and Adults are $5. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

     

    Rehearsal for the Fall Play will be in the Auditorium Monday and Tuesday until 5pm and Wednesday and Thursday until 5:30pm in the Cavalier Community Room. 

     

    Are you interested in Science or Engineering? Please attend a brief informational meeting Tuesday morning at 7:30 in Mr. Bjerkaas’ room 341 to find out more about ACES – the Academic Challenge in the Engineering Sciences. See Mr. Bjerkaas if you’re unable to make the meeting.

     

    Do you want to learn to build a website or write a program? Computer Club coders meet every Friday after school in room 341. New members are always welcome!

    Tuesday, November 12th – a representative from the U.S. Marines – 4th hour -there will be a $180,000 scholarship opportunity to a 4 year university and no obligation for application. Students accepted and interested in attending their university of choice will become commissioned officers in the Marine Corp. Sign up in the counseling office if interested.

    The marines will also be here during 5th hour on Tuesday during all lunches.

    Wednesday, November 20th – Morrison Tech – 3rd hour

    Interested students can sign up in the Counseling office to meet with any of these representatives.

Dress to impress and take pictures on the red carpet, bring money for great raffle items from local businesses, and sit back and enjoy the show as we announce our 2020 Superlative winners and witness some of LP's most talented students. --Please be aware that our make update will be Thursday, November 7th at 7:30 pm if our volleyball girls make super sectionals. Good luck girls!

     

    Attention anyone a part of yearbook and the Cav Choice award show--we have mandatory rehearsals every day after school this week. Be in the auditorium by 2:50pm each day.

    Attention Juniors and Seniors: IVCC is sponsoring a free bus trip to NIU on Friday, November 1st from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM. On this college visit, you will tour NIU’s campus, hear about their academic programs and student organizations, and enjoy a free lunch. Field Trip permission forms were sent to student emails last week. Interested students should turn these permission slips in to the LP Counseling Office by the end of today.

     

    Attention Seniors: Senior gear is available for purchase - check your email for a link to our online store to order your items.  If you have any questions, please see any member of the senior board, or you can contact Mrs. Turczyn or Mrs. Lamboley.   The store will remain open through Sunday, November 3rd.  

     

    Attention students, faculty and staff: We will have a lost and found day on Tuesday, October 29th. Items that have been turned in will be displayed on tables in the hallways entering the cafeteria during all lunch periods. Make sure you check to see if we have an item of yours. We have lots of items like water bottles, coats, sweatshirts, lunch boxes, a retainer, and much more. Lost and found is located in the bookstore. You can always stop by during bookstore hours to see if your lost item has been turned in.

If we reach our goal of a $1000 donation, over 550 mothers and babies could be impacted! Thank you so much to those who have already pledged.     Hey Cavs! There's one last round of voting for the Cavalier Choice Awards! Check your student email this Wednesday, October 23rd for the link to submit your final vote. This last round of voting narrows down from four nominees to our two superlative winners for each category. Along with the Google form voting, students may also vote by donating their loose change to the student or staff member they would like to win. The Yearbook staff will be in the Student Commons during all lunches from Wednesday, October 23rd to Tuesday, October 29th to collect your change.  And don't forget, the Awards show is Friday, November 8th in the auditorium--admission is $3.00. 

     

    The Yearbook staff will be having a mandatory meeting after school on Tuesday, October 22nd in room 156 to discuss the Cavalier Choice Awards and Sadie. Any students taking part in Cav Choice are required to attend the meeting. We'll see you there!

     

    Hello Seniors! Do you need help filling out a college application or with your FAFSA application? The counselors are hosting a College & FAFSA Application Day on October 25th - all class periods. To sign up, please come to the Counseling Office to reserve which period you would like to be called in. You will get sent a pass, and we will meet in Collaboration Room 327. Help will be available to answer any questions and assist you in completing these applications. Hope to see you then!

    Attention juniors and seniors: there is a college and career night at IVCC tomorrow, October 22nd from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  There is also a financial aid informational session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

     

    Picture retake day is Friday, October 25. The Lifetouch photographer will be in the Alumni from 7:00 until 3:00. Please try to arrive early to be photographed before school. You may also ask your study hall, P.E., health, or driver ed teacher for a pass to have your picture retaken. In order for your picture to be in the yearbook, you must be photographed by LifeTouch.  There is no charge for the yearbook photo.  If you wish to order a picture packet, order forms are available in the principal’s office. Orders and payment are to be given to the photographer on October 25th.

We are seeking to fill 50 "envelopes" to reach a $1000 donation. Individual, group, or classroom pools are welcome.     The FAFSA Parent Power Session is scheduled for this Wednesday, October 16th starting at 6:00 p.m. for seniors and their parents. It will be held in room 326. We also encourage seniors to sign up for the next college 101 session on October 25 for FAFSA and college application assistance. Sign up in the Counseling Office.

     

    For any students interested in competitive cheer season, there will be an open practice on Thursday, October 17th, from 5:00-6:15 in the north balcony. Tryouts will be on Monday, October 21st, at 5:30 in the north balcony.

    The 2019 bowling season is about to be underway.  Coach Miller will be available after school tomorrow in the main office to answer any questions if you are interested in bowling this winter.  There are four non-mandatory open bowling events at the IV Superbowl in Peru, for anyone wanting to get a jump start on the season.  The dates are October 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th from 3:30-5:00, and the cost is $2.50 per game.

    There will be a Pumpkin Flotilla Festival held on October 19 at the Heritage Harbor in Ottawa. It is an all day event and includes activities such as 5K Zombie Fun/Run, craft fair, pet costume contest, games, food & drinks, pumpkin carving, bonfire, storyteller, and more. For more information, there are posters located on the bulletin board outside the Counseling office.

    On Thursday, August 29th  former NBA player Chris Herren will be presenting to our students and staff.  His message on addiction and recovery is very powerful.  He has two different specials on ESPN that some of you may have seen.  We will run a regular schedule through 5th period and not have 6th or 7th periods.  The presentation will begin at 1:00 in the auditorium.  Juniors and seniors will sit on the main floor and Freshmen and sophomores will sit upstairs.

     

    Would you like to be this year’s Sir Ranier mascot? Or help the mascot during events?     Attention Students, there will be Discipline Assemblies held in the auditorium this week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, August 19th, 20th and 22nd.  We will use the A.M. assembly schedule for those three days. Today, August 20th sophomores will report to the auditorium at 9:25 and other students will report to their homeroom. On Thursday, juniors and seniors will report to the auditorium at 9:25 and freshmen and sophomores will report to their homeroom.

    Attention students: make-up picture day is today, August 19th. The LifeTouch photographers will be in room 237 (The Alumni Room) from 7:15 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.. Your picture will not appear in the Yearbook if you do not get photographed by LifeTouch. So, be sure to stop by room 237 if you were not photographed by LifeTouch during registration. If you need a picture pack form, please see Mrs. Franklin in the Principal’s Office.

    Beginning today, August 19th, any student not currently enrolled in a fall sport wishing to improve his/her health through weight training has the opportunity after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the Weight Room. This is for both beginner and experienced weight lifters. If interested, please meet today, August 19th after school in the Weight Room. If any questions, please see Mr. Lauer in Room 323.

     

    There will be a Green Team meeting on Thursday, August 22nd in the commons at 2:45 p.m.   Please see Ms. Lance if you have any questions.

     

    We are looking for high school students who are able to volunteer to assist Special Olympics athletes in basketball and bocce this school year. Come to Ms. Davidson’s room, 226 after school any day this week or next week or email Ms. Ziel-Cole.

     

    Senior Board will be meeting at 7:15 on Thursday morning in the student commons - where the hand print wall will be.

     

    Would you like to positively impact your school? Then, Renaissance is the club for you! The first Renaissance meeting will be after school on Monday, August 26th in the Cavalier Community Room. We will begin working on our large Fall Academic Rally.

     

    Student Council will be meeting on Friday at 7:10 AM in Mr. Zukowski’s room 340.

     

    Attention students: If you have not picked up your 2019 yearbook, please do so as soon as possible in room 156. If you did not purchase a 2019 yearbook, you can still do so with Ms. West before or after school.

    Any junior students that are interested in becoming a part of the junior board. please meet in Mrs. Hartman’s room Wednesday at 7:15 am.

     

    Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. We meet every Tuesday morning at 7:15 AM in the Cavalier Community Room. All are welcome and there will be treats!! 

     

    Have a fun time kicking off the new school year with Key Club! Join us Friday, August 23rd right after school in the Student Commons for an ice cream social! Lots of FREE ice cream and exciting information about a student-led, volunteer organization. 

     

    Calling all Cavs!  LEAD (Leadership, Education, Awareness for Disabilities) will be having their first meeting on Wednesday, August 21rst in the Cavalier Community Room (CCR) during your lunch period.  Grab your lunch and a friend and come down to CCR and learn more about LEAD.  Please email Mrs. Witte with any questions.

     

    Attention juniors: All juniors have the option to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT exam, which will enter you into the National Merit Scholarship competition. It will be held in the morning on October 16. The cost of the exam is $17.00. Due to the nature of this exam, no make-up dates or late arrivals will be allowed. Please register for the PSAT/NMSQT exam at the Bookstore no later than Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

     

    Students attending L-P‘s homecoming dance on September 28th who will be bringing a non-L-P student as their guest, are required to fill out a guest request form. Guest request forms may be picked up at the greeter’s desk or in the school safety office. These forms must be returned to Mrs. Skoog in the School safety office before you purchase a ticket. We will not accept any forms after September 23rd.

     

    Tickets go on sale Sept 23rd through Sept 27th during all lunch periods.

    11:20 dismissal

     

    Happy birthday to Angel Ortiz, Adrian Rodriguez, and Lauren Simone, Sammy Sosa, Mrs. Ramey, and Mrs. Hurst.

     

    All ACC Cosmetology and Aviation students should report to the Principals office during their assigned periods.  This procedure is for today only. 

    Tomorrow all cosmetology and Aviation students should report to the steps in front of the East Gym before 7:45.  Cosmetology students will use the La Moille bus for transport to class; Aviation students will board the Henry-Senachwine bus for transport to the airport.

     

    Attention students: We would like to welcome you to another exciting year at LP High School! Please review your schedule carefully. No changes will be allowed unless you have no class schedule or ‘See counselor’ indicated. If you believe you are taking a class you have already taken, please see your counselor. Schedules will be changed only if there are counselor errors.

  • The required Chromebook Orientation and Distribution Night for all freshmen families will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, August 14 in Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium. This meeting is required for both the student and a parent/guardian. During the meeting families will learn about the LPHS Chromebook policies and procedures. This roughly 15-minute session will be followed by distribution of student Chromebooks. The student is also required to bring their 2019-2020 LPHS Student ID card, which was issued during registration. Since Chromebook distribution is on Wednesday night this means your child will not need their Chromebook on the first day of school.

    The Fall Sports Meeting, which is required for all student-athletes planning to participate in a fall sport at LPHS, begins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14 in Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium. After the meeting in the auditorium, coaches will have breakout meetings with athletes and parents for their respective sports.
