Posted by Matt Baker on 9/6/2018
LaSalle-Peru Township High School is excited to welcome community members to view the completed LP Renovation Project. A public open house is scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10.
Following nearly 16-months of intensive work, and preceded by many more months of planning and preparation, the renovation of LPHS’s historic school building is now nearing substantial completion. Community members are welcome to explore the heavily renovated facility to see numerous upgraded classrooms and offices, improved furnishings, new educational technology, and restored historic features. Visitors will also experience the comfort of being inside a climate-controlled LPHS for the first time in the building’s 90-year history.
The open house will begin with brief remarks from LP Board President Tony Sparks and LPHS Superintendent Steven Wrobleski at 6 p.m. in Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium, but community members are welcome to drop in any time during the open house to view the completed renovation.
The LP Renovation Project included fully renovating the interior of the main academic building with special focus on classrooms, as well as completing the infrastructure repairs, such as window/roofing replacement, asbestos/lead abatement, and HVAC/mechanical upgrades, needed to further extend the life of the LPHS main building while maintaining its historical integrity. Voters approved the facility renovation referendum in November 2016. The facility project was designed by Kmetz Architects and Legat Architects. The construction project is being overseen by construction management firm Pepper Construction. Additional renovation planning guidance has been provided by Brownfield Environmental Engineering and AMSCO Engineering.
