Regular Meetings October 23, 2024, Regular Meeting Agenda and Minutes: Agenda Minutes Board Summary: During its Regular Board Meeting held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the Board of Education accomplished the following items. 1. Approved the minutes of the September 18, 2024, Regular Meeting. 2. Recognized Molly Mudge for her efforts to provide a local agriculture experience for a Rotary international exchange student. 3. Mrs. Michele Honecker-Ummel presented the Division Spotlight, discussing recent activities in the English Division, as well as the impact of auto-enrollment on honor classes enrollment and student performance. 4. Provided opportunity for public comment. 5. Approved monthly L-P bills, ACC bills, payroll, and financial statements. 6. Mr. Bill Newkirk presented the Auditor’s Report. 7. Received correspondence from Mrs. Cheri DePaepe and the Hocking family. 8. Received TIF reimbursements from Village of North Utica (TIF 1 - $26,241.04; TIF 2 - $9.599.88) and City of LaSalle ($50,384.88) for a total of $86,225.80. 9. Mr. Ferrari presented the Building and Grounds Committee Report. 10. Mr. Merboth presented the Finance Committee Report. 11. Dr. Wrobleski presented the Superintendent’s Report, sharing information on discussions regarding proposed financial investment opportunities for the district, the Dolan Building playground project nearing completion, recognizing Principal Appreciation Week, a report on the health/life safety walkthrough findings, recent PLC activities, the School Improvement day activities, and the upcoming Replanting the Ag Program meeting. 12. Mrs. Cushing presented the Principal’s Report, sharing information on recent Parent-Teacher Conferences, the Link Crew leader-freshmen lunch, the return of before/after-school tutoring, upcoming PLC activities, and Star360 data. 13. Mr. Hanson presented the Athletic Director’s Report, sharing information on the girls tennis team qualifying for the state tournament, recent and upcoming fall sports season events, the Interstate 8 Leadership Conference, and the marching band competition season. 14. Dr. Lange presented the ACC Director’s Report, sharing information on the ACC/SRAVTE Regional Principals Conference featuring a breakfast prepared by the Culinary Arts program, students taking part in multiple manufacturing career activities, Fire Safety Training activities, and the addition of new donated equipment in the machining program. 15. Mr. Baker presented the Communication Report, sharing information on recent communication projects. 16. Adopted Governor Pritzker’s proclamation declaring October 20–26, 2024, Principal Appreciation Week and October 25, 2024, Principals Day 17. Approved Resolution 2025-3 to abate $600,000 in the Working Cash (Fund 70) to the Capital Projects (Fund 60) 18. Approved establishing a District credit card account with Hometown National Bank 19. Approved creating the following activity accounts: i. GOALS activity account ii. Huddle activity account 20. Approved the following resignations: i. Ms. Monica Krieser, Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director, effective September 20, 2024 ii. Mr. Chad Arnett, Volunteer Assistant Basketball Coach, effective September 30, 2024 iii. Mr. Mark Lorden, Assistant Wrestling Coach, effective October 23, 2024 21. Approved the following appointments: i. Mr. Evan Swingel, Volunteer Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach, effective for the 2024-2025 school year ii. Mrs. Abigail Goy, Renaissance Co-Advisor, effective for the 2024-2025 school year (new position) iii. Mr. Mark Lorden, Volunteer Assistant Wrestling Coach, effective for the 2024-2025 school year 22. Approved the following maternity/paternity leave requests: i. Mrs. Courtney Curley, beginning on or about Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and returning for the 2025-2026 school year. She will use her accumulated sick days and unpaid leave. ii. Mr. Aaron Guenther, for one week beginning on or about Wednesday, April 4, 2025. He will use his accumulated sick days to cover the leave. 23. Approved the L-P Crunching Cavs Youth Wrestling Program request to host the annual Crunching Cavs Classic Tournament at L-P High School on Sunday, January 26, 2025 24.
