Any girls interested in going out for the golf team next school year please contact Coach Goy or stop by the PE office in the Sellett Gym for more information.

Any junior who has not received their ACT student score report should pick up the report in the Counseling Office.

Attention students needing summer school: Registration is now live via a form link in your LP email.  Available summer school courses are listed in the form (students may take up to 2 summer school courses) and will be taught in-person at LP.  Seats are limited, so please sign up for classes even if you are unsure, you will fail it as students who pass will be removed.  The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, May 21.  All courses are offered free of charge however transportation is not provided.  Please contact the counseling office with any questions.

All library books are now due. Please return as soon as possible to avoid fines.

Boys, who were unable to stop in last week, planning to participate in golf and bowling next year need to speak with Coach Gunia in room 149 by the end of the week.

Attention girls that will be playing varsity volleyball next year, there will be a meeting in the Sellett Gym at 7:20 a.m. this Wednesday.

Attention all students planning on playing football next year,  there will be a meeting on May 21st at 1:00 pm in the auditorium.  All players are expected to be there!

Seniors: This is your final reminder that you will not graduate unless you complete a FAFSA or non-participation form.  You must also submit the Senior Questionnaire sent to your email from Mrs. Balestri.  Please come to the counseling office if you need help with any final steps towards graduation.

Attention Seniors, there is a graduation meeting right now in the auditorium. Please report directly to the auditorium if you are not already there.  Seniors must turn in their Cavalier Cord hours by May 1st.

Attention Seniors: Tomorrow, May 6th is Donut Decision Day. Please stop outside of the counseling office from 7:15 AM through 11:20 to sign our banner with your future plans, take a photo with our backdrop, and get your donut. Please wear a shirt to represent your future college, career, or plan.

Prom Guidelines

To all students attending the prom on Saturday, April 26, the following guidelines will be followed:

  • School ID cards are required. No student or guest will be admitted without a valid photo ID card.
  • Students should be at LP at 4:00 p.m. if they are participating in the promenade.
  • Prom starts at 7:00 p.m. at Fire on Fifth in Peru. Students must arrive by 8:00 p.m. in order to be admitted to the dance and must remain until 10:00 p.m.
  • All school rules are in effect during dances. If students violate rules and are removed from the dance, the price of tickets will not be refunded, and consequences will result.
  • In order for a student to attend the dance, they must be in attendance on Friday, April 25, by 10:00 a.m.
  • Students on social probation will not be allowed to attend.
  • The LP administration has the right not to admit any student who is not in good standing. LP administration has the right and responsibility to exclude any student or guest from attending a dance if they believe that this individual poses a safety risk or is disruptive to the environment.
  • All students bringing a non-LP guest to the dance must have had a “Guest Request Form” completed at the time their ticket was purchased.

A reminder to Seniors and LP guests who are attending prom.  There is an Extended Wednesday scheduled for tomorrow.  Anyone assigned to this date, who does not attend will receive a DSP (in-school suspension) and a 15- day social probation. This probation will prevent you from attending any school sponsored activity including prom.  If you have questions about this announcement, please contact Ms. Lance or Mr. Miller in the School Safety Office.  

Attention Students: Is there a faculty, staff member, coach, or activity sponsor who you would like to recognize for going above and beyond? If so, nominate them for the Tireless, Staff, or Sir Ranier awards. Nominations have been sent to your student emails along with a description of each award. Please send your submissions by the end of today.  

Attention Seniors: Renaissance will be creating and posting Senior Spotlights on our social media again this year.  An email with the necessary Google Form has been sent to all seniors. Please submit this Google Form by May 1st if you would like to be featured on our social media. 

There will be a Renaissance meeting after school today in Room 150.

Attention Seniors, there will be a graduation meeting on Monday, May 5th in the auditorium beginning at 7:45. Please report directly to the auditorium the beginning of 1st hour.  Seniors must turn in their Cavalier Cord hours by May 1st.

Prom is on Saturday, April 26th!

  • Promenade begins at 4:30 PM.
    • Doors open to the public at 4:00 PM.
    • Students should enter through the 6th Street entrance.
  • Dance starts at 7:00 PM at Fire on Fifth. The entrance is on the west side of the building, not the main entrance to Fire on Fifth
    • All students must arrive by 8:00 PM to be admitted.

Important Reminders:

  • Bring your student ID and ticket.
  • Outside guests must show a photo ID.

Attention Cavaliers: Our next Art Club meeting will be Apr 24th after school until 4pm. We will be working on the Mural for the ACC building. Please meet in the Art Room right after school and we will walk over together. Everyone is welcome to attend. 

Students please remember to check your emails regularly as the counseling office will be sending out emails with summer school information, next year scheduling fixes, counseling tip Tuesdays, graduation requirements, etc.

Seniors:  Graduation is fast approaching! Are you wondering what you are going to do after graduation? Maybe you are tired of others asking what your plan is. Cavalier Connection is the event for you! This event will take place during 2nd and 3rd Hours on Tuesday, April 29th. By attending Cavalier Connection, you will have a great opportunity to interview with local companies with the possibility of obtaining a higher paying job. You will also make connections with local employers that may assist with your career path both immediately after high school and as you advance towards your career goals. The companies that are attending Cavalier Connection have been selected because they are hiring and preparing for positions that will offer more opportunity for higher pay and career advancement. This is an amazing opportunity both for anyone looking for a full-time job as their career and for anyone that will be attending IVCC and may want a higher paying position to work alongside school.

Senior Picnic – Friday, May 2
Join us during all lunch periods for the Senior Picnic hosted by the Senior Board! Enjoy free pizza, drinks, and cookies. Bring a blanket, relax with friends, play bags and other games, and enter for a chance to win awesome prizes like a gift card or even a TV!

Registration for the Seal of Biliteracy test is now open. The exam will be administered on Thursday, April 10. The cost of the exam is $20 for the foreign language test and $20 for the English test. You may register in-person at the Bookstore during normal business hours. If you have any questions about the Seal of Biliteracy, please see Mrs. Ramey or Dr. Gibson.

Attention Seniors: Aubrie with ISAC is here every Thursday from 10:30-12:30 for help with college apps or the FAFSA requirement for high school graduation and to attend college. Please sign up in the counseling office today!

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Please check your email for information from IVCC inviting you to come to their Explore IVCC event Tomorrow from 5:30-7.  You can meet with faculty and current students, get campus tours and learn about all that IVCC has to offer.

Attention Seniors: Get ready for a night to remember—Prom 2025, A Night Under the Stars, is on Saturday, April 26th!  Tickets will be on sale THIS week in the Student Commons during all lunch periods. The cost is $25 per ticket. If your date does not attend LP, you must complete a guest request form from the School Safety Office and submit it before purchasing tickets. 

There will be an intramural softball league starting the week of April 9th. Teams will play 1 or 2 games per week depending on the number of teams. Teams will be coed and any student not participating in a spring sport can play. You can sign up your team outside the PE office. If you have any questions please see Mr. Keating.

Permission slips to attend Renaissance's Gold Day were distributed to 2nd period classes last week. If you earned a Gold Card during either 1st or 2nd semester, then you should have received this form. Permission slips are due to the Greeter's Desk by April 11th before you leave for Spring Break. No late forms can be accepted. Contact Mrs. Eichelkraut and Mrs. Goy with questions.

This week Key Club is sponsoring a monetary food drive that will be given to the Illinois Valley Food Pantry. We will be collecting donations during 3rd hour class. We ask you to consider giving a monetary donation, big or small, that will assist our local community members. We plan to award the class with the highest percentage of funds collected with root beer floats and the 2nd highest with a sweet treat. Thank you for your time and consideration.
