2024-2025 ScholarshipsMost scholarship applications are due in early February. Find additional scholarship opportunities here. Dr. A.J. Sellett Medical ScholarshipThe Dr. A.J. Sellett Medical Scholarship is a $1,500 annual scholarship provided by the Sellett family to honor Dr. A.J. Sellett upon his retirement from the Board of Education after more than two decades. This scholarship will be given to a senior who is planning to pursue a career in medicine. The applicant must have a 3.5 GPA or better and a strong academic background in mathematics and science. ACT scores will be considered. Special consideration will be given to students enrolled in honors courses. Andrew J. Kelly Memorial ScholarshipThe Andrew J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship is a $300 annual scholarship with an additional $50 if recipient graduated from Lincoln Jr. High and $50 if recipient participates in band at L-P, sponsored by Andrew’s family in honor of his life. The Student Board Senior Class President will be the recipient of this scholarship if he/she plans to attend a two or four year college or university or plans to attend a vocational or trade school. If the Student Board Senior Class President is not pursuing a college or vocational education, the scholarship will not be awarded that year. No application required. Bob Folty Memorial ScholarshipThis $500 scholarship was created in honor of Bob Folty. He was a proud resident of the Village of Tonica and contributed to the community. He valued education and built the little library in front of Village Hall. This scholarship is open to one graduating senior who is going into a Career Technical Education (CTE) field. A 1-page, 250 word or less essay on the topic of “Describe your future plans and how you came to choose them” must be included with application. Brian L. Lamps Memorial ScholarshipThe family of longtime IVCH physical rehabilitation patient, Brian L. Lamps, is keeping his memory alive by establishing a scholarship fund for college students who want to pursue and become a Physical Therapist. Brian and his family are strong advocates of Physical Therapists as they helped Brian achieve the ability to walk again after a difficult surgery. He was a familiar face to the staff of the Center for Physical Rehabilitation and Aquatics – from 2007 until the time of his passing. This $500 scholarship is open to one graduating senior who has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, has accepted and plans to attend a 2-or 4-year college, full time beginning the fall after graduation, and is pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy. They must also submit a list of their extracurricular activities and a 1-page Essay on the following topic: “What is driving your decision to pursue the field of Physical Therapy?”. Central Bank Illinois ScholarshipThis $500 scholarship was created by Linda Hessenberger to recognize the achievements of seniors who have earned a 7-semester gold card. Applicant must have a financial need and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA after 7 semesters, and be accepted to a 2 or 4 year college. No application required. City Center Physical Therapy ScholarshipThis is a $1,000 annual scholarship provided by City Center Physical Therapy to provide financial assistance to a student pursuing a career in physical therapy or sports medicine. The applicant must currently be an L-P senior, have a cumulative gpa of 3.25 or higher, and have a strong interest in the field of Physical Therapy or Sports Medicine. Also, eligible applicants must plan to attend and be accepted at a two or four year college or university. Essay required on why your interest in pursuing a career in physical therapy or sports medicine. Dale Family ScholarshipThis one-time $500 scholarship is established by the Dale family who is dedicated to the betterment of society and believes in investing in the youth for their future. This scholarship will be granted to one senior demonstrating a desire to make a difference in the world with plans to attend a two- or four-year university or trade school. Deb Pyszka Memorial ScholarshipThe family of Deb Pyszka has established the Deb Pyszka Memorial Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $500. Deb was an IVCH nurse for 39 years. Deb’s family created the scholarship to honor her memory and her love of nursing. This one-time scholarship is established in memory of Deb Pyszka. Eligible students must be pursuing a registered nursing degree and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. No essay is necessary, but a brief paragraph description of the applicant’s future plans regarding a nursing profession. Debo Memorial ScholarshipThis one-time $1000 scholarship is established by the Debo family in memory of local businessman Harry Debo. This scholarship will be granted to one senior per year who plans to pursue a degree in business, is accepted to and plans to attend a 2-year or 4-year college full-time and demonstrates participation in business-related activities and classes. Dr. and Senator Sue Rezin ScholarshipThe L-P Scholarship Committee will select 1 senior per year to receive the Dr. and Senator Sue Rezin Scholarship. Recipients will have demonstrated strong character, positive academic achievement, and a desire to pursue higher education after high school. Financial need may also be considered. No application is required. Edward and Hilda Snow ScholarshipIn memory of Edward and Hilda Snow, their granddaughter, Mrs. Anita Copeland, was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School and an attendee of LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College (now IVCC). Mrs. Copeland greatly valued education. The scholarship is awarded to two students which will vary based on annual interest accrued, but will be no less than $2,000. The qualified applicant must rank in the top 20 of their class, demonstrate participation in school-community activities, and submit an essay. Elizabeth Boyle and Richard Henneberry ScholarshipThis $500 scholarship was created in memory of Elizabeth Boyle and Richard Henneberry, and their families have donated funds to be used toward tuition, fees, and books for college of your choice. The applicant must be a senior who plans on majoring in any one of the following health-related careers: Agricultural Research, Environment, Nursing, Biology (health-related), Speech Pathology/Audiology, or Psychology. Financial need will be a consideration. Must have a 'B' GPA; one page essay required on why student feels he/she should receive scholarship. Esther Styma ScholarshipMs. Styma graduated from L-P High School, worked at Westclox, was an avid golfer, enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, and was a great supporter of the Canal Boat. This is an annual scholarship of at least $1,000 ($500 per semester). Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and reside in the city of LaSalle. The applicant must have a financial need and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college, vocational, or trade school. Essay required on "how higher education will make a difference in my life." Evelyn Biederstedt Memorial ScholarshipThis scholarship is an approximately $2,000 (paid half each semester) annual scholarship provided by Ms. Evelyn E. Biederstedt. She played the piano and organ for many years for her church and for many social events. It's to be used for tuition, books, fees, or other related educational expenses. The qualified applicant will exemplify qualities of their love for music, financial need, scholastic standing, citizenship, personality, leadership ability, perseverance and resourcefulness. Essay required as to how music has influenced your life (band or chorus). Ficek-Carboni ScholarshipIn tribute to his local family history, William J. Carboni, L-P Class of 1984, is making available an annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to be used for tuition, books, fees, or other related educational expenses. The qualified applicant will exemplify strong character, community spirit, value driven leadership, and have a financial need. The applicant must currently be an LP senior, have a cumulative GPA of 2.4 or higher, and must plan to attend and be accepted at a two or four year college, university, or trade school of their choice. Also, the applicant must submit a one-page type written double-spaced essay addressing the topic “How the lessons I learned from my family have influenced my life.” Applicants should also list community activities and high school activities. Financial Plus Credit Union ScholarshipFinancial Plus will be giving out 20 Scholarships, Ten winners will receive $500 and ten winners will receive $150 “Bucks for Books” scholarships. Candidates must be a Financial Plus Credit Union member in good standing and meet the scholarship criteria. Applications can be found on the LP scholarship webpage during the application period. Gary Eccles MemorialGary Eccles was a firefighter/engineer for the city of Peru for 23 years. He earned numerous certifications during his never ending training in the fire service. This is an annual scholarship in the amount of $500 to one graduating senior who is going on to IVCC in any area of study. Minimum 3.0 GPA; extracurricular activities; essay on "Why I belong to an emergency services organization and what I gain from being a member." Dr. Gary J. Novak, M.D., ScholarshipDr. Gary Novak, Class of 1970, received an excellent education while also playing basketball at LaSalle-Peru High School. He continued learning and growing at the University of Notre Dame and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He had a long career of caring for others as an internist and teaching medical students and residents. Georgia Stohr MemorialThis one-time, $500 scholarship was established by the family of Georgia Stohr for the purpose of providing monetary assistance to graduating LP seniors entering into higher education. Georgia Stohr was a dedicated English teacher and Yearbook advisor who was passionate about her craft and her students. This scholarship is open to any graduating LP senior who has earned a minimum cumulative 3.5/4.0 GPA, demonstrated extracurricular involvement, and plans to pursue a post-secondary degree in the field of Communications or English. The scholarship will be paid directly to the student’s higher education institution upon providing proof of enrollment in college to L-P High School. List volunteer community activities; essay: "explain your interests in the field and strengths you would bring to the profession." Illinois School Counselor Association ScholarshipSeven $1000 scholarships will be available for seniors pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree, trade school, apprenticeship program. Jack Feliksiak Memorial ScholarshipThis one-time $1,000 scholarship is established in memory of Jack Feliksiak. Jack Feliksiak was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School with the Class of 1961. He participated in musicals at LP, LPO, and Illinois Wesleyan and obtained his Master’s degree in Music Education at the University of Illinois. Jack taught Music and Physical Education at Washington Junior High School in Peru for 29 years. While he was at Washington Junior High, he directed 29 musicals, which he is remembered for most by his former students. He was also the Superintendent at Oak Ridge Golf Course in LaSalle for 31 years. He was an avid golfer and was proud to have had 23 holes-in-one. Jack also was a member at Crossbridge Community Church in Ottawa, Elks in LaSalle and Oglesby, Knights of Columbus in LaSalle, Eagles in Peru, Music Educators, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, United States Golf Association, and the Northwestern Golf Superintendents Association. This scholarship is awarded to a senior who has participated in music junior and senior year, with a minimum 2.75 GPA, and plans to pursue a degree in music education, performing arts, a related field or continue their involvement in the arts into higher education. Jack Lyon Memorial ScholarshipJack Lyon and his wife, Linda, grew up together in Iowa. Jack entered the Air Force and was stationed in Germany; he began working at LP High School in 1973 where he stayed for 14 years. This $1,000 minimum scholarship will be awarded to a student who took 4 years of German, has a minimum GPA of 2.5, is accepted/plans to attend a 2 or 4 year university or trade school; applicant must complete an essay: "What I've gained from taking German at L-P." Jaiden Allen Memorial ScholarshipThis one-time $1000 scholarship is established in memory of Jaiden Allen sponsored by his parents Andrew Allen and Sangita Patel Allen. It's open to any graduating senior who has a minimum GPA of 3.25, is accepted to a 2-or 4-year college full-time, demonstrates participation in school-community activities. One page essay required on "how you plan to make the world a better place and in what ways are you already doing so?" Ken Carey Memorial ScholarshipIn honor of L-P class of 1984 graduate, Ken Carey, his mother and stepfather have established a scholarship. As a previous Blow Award recipient and member of the National Honor Society, Ken had a passion for both his education and athletics at L-P High School. This is a $1000 scholarship provided to a qualified male applicant who has been involved in sports. List athletic involvement and awards; essay: "Describe your hunger to continue education beyond high school and why you are most deserving of this award." Knights of ColumbusThe Knights of Columbus is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to enter IVCC next fall as a full‑time student. The scholarship is $2000 ($500 per semester and with proper receipts) to be used towards tuition, fees, and books. Applicants must have maintained a "C" average in high school and be in need of financial assistance. Essay on describing your goals and educational plans. Lambert Jones Automotive ScholarshipIn memory of Lambert Jones, his wife has donated scholarship funds in the amount of $2,000 ($1000 per semester) to be used towards tuition, fees, and books for college. The applicant must have a "B-" GPA overall. Applicant must also be pursuing an education in Auto Technology. Financial need is NOT a consideration. Essay: "Why you would be most deserving candidate to receive award." Linda Levine Memorial ScholarshipLinda Levine was a highly active L-P high school student who graduated in 1970 with a degree in recreation from SIU-Carbondale. Her family is offering a $2,000 scholarship will be granted to one female senior who plans to pursue a degree in business, has a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, is accepted to and plans to attend a 2-year or 4-year college full-time, and demonstrates participation in school-community activities. The applicant must also submit an essay on the topic, "What motivates you to pursue a career in business?" List your high school and community based activities. L-P Agriculture ScholarshipA one year, $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior with another $1,000 renewable scholarship the second year. The Agricultural Scholarship Committee have the discretion to award an additional second $1,000 scholarship voted on by the scholarship committee. This scholarship may be used towards tuition, books, fees, or other related educational expenses. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and be planning to enroll full time at a college or technical school with an intended agriculture-related major. Applicants will list high school and community activities including work experience. \Essay on your career goals. L-P Band Parent Association ScholarshipThe LP Band Parent Association is proud to offer a $1,000 scholarship to two deserving LP students that have participated in band throughout high school. The applicant must have a minimum 2.0 gpa and 4 years involvement in band. Essay: "How has 4 years of band participation helped shape who I am today?" L-P Class of 1956 ScholarshipThe L-P Class of 1956 Scholarship is established to acknowledge and reward student academic success and leadership at the high school. This is a one-year, non-renewable $1,000 scholarship. The candidate shall be a graduating senior of LP High School who has attended LP for at least two years and who has attained an accumulated grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Candidates must also be accepted to attend a two or four year college or university and have a record of participation in school and community activities, with great emphasis on leadership roles. Applicants will list high school and community activities/awards. Essay describing leadership roles in both school and community achievements and how those have prepared you to be a team player. L-P Class of 1957 ScholarshipThe L-P Class of ’57 Scholarship is an annual monetary award generously donated by the Lasalle-Peru High School graduating class of 1957. The L-P Class of ’57 Scholarship Fund was established with the intention of creating higher educational opportunities for future L-P High School generations. L-P Foundation Scholarship for Excellence in EducationThis $1,000 scholarship ($500/semester) is provided for an L-P senior who has acquired a combination of classroom excellence as well as extra-curricular activities and 100 hours of community service. The scholarship is provided to an L-P senior who has acquired a combination of classroom excellence, extra-curricular activities and 100 hours of community service. This scholarship is open to any graduating senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, acceptance to 2- or 4- year college or trade school, list of extracurricular activities and 100 hours of community service, and submission of an essay. North Central College ScholarshipThis $1,000 scholarship is for any future North Central College student from LP High School who has been admitted to NCC. Positive academic performance in high school is expected. The scholarship is renewable for 4 years. Visit the L-P Counseling Office with your acceptance to NCC for more information. Pat Weber Memorial ScholarshipIn memory of Pat Weber, a dedicated and compassionate teacher and counselor at LaSalle-Peru Township High School, his family has made available a one time $1000 scholarship available to a desirable, earnest senior who plans to continue his/her education in the field of teaching. The qualified applicant must be an L-P senior who exemplifies qualities of leadership in school, extracurricular, and civic activities. The student will be continuing his/her education in college and will be an asset to the teaching/counseling profession. List high school activities and community involvement; list honors/awards/recognitions. Peter F. Ferracuti Future Advocate ScholarshipThe Law Offices of Peter F. Ferracuti Future Advocate Scholarship is a $500 scholarship for future lawyers who wish to defend the rights of the injured. List extracurricular and community activities, leadership positions; state career aspirations. Peter F. Ferracuti Importance of the Trades ScholarshipThe Law Offices of Peter F. Ferracuti Importance of the Trades Scholarship is a $500 scholarship that was established to provide support for a student wishing to continue the tradition of the labor/trades in Illinois. List extracurricular and community activities, leadership positions; there are essay questions on the trades. Pondinas Memorial ScholarshipThis one-time $1000 scholarship is established in memory of Jeremy Pondinas. Jeremy was involved in wrestling, fishing, baseball, basketball, and football while attending L-P High School. They are looking for someone with a good sense of humor, able to go with the flow, and laugh at life. Quesse Technology ScholarshipThe Quesse Technology Scholarship is a $1,000 annual scholarship established to assist students who intend to pursue a career in a field related to Computer Technology. The applicant must have a cumulative GPAof 3.25 or higher, a strong interest in the field of Computer Technology, and plan to attend and be accepted at a two or four-year college or university. List high school/community activities; essay on "Why am I interested in a career in computer technology?" R. Earl Trobaugh PresidentialThe R. Earl Trobaugh Presidential Recognition Scholarship is provided in honor of Mr. Trobaugh who served as a teacher and administrator at LaSalle-Peru Township High School and L-P-O Community College. This scholarship also recognizes outstanding students in the field of Language Arts – students who have attained the highest average in the subject areas of English and foreign language and will attend IVCC the following year. The scholarship shall be paid directly to IVCC. Selection will be made by an appointed committee with no application required. Robert & Judith Quick Family Education ScholarshipThis scholarship was created to honor Robert & Judith Quick who spent a majority of their lives involved and a part of the LP family. This $200 scholarship is established to help a future college student who plans on going into education and attending either IVCC or a 4-year school. Robert Alpert ScholarshipThis one-time scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Robert Alpert, who was a beloved educator, counselor, and coach at Peru Washington. Though a decorated Marine in WWII, education was his passion and he believed in lifelong learning. This scholarship is a way for him to give back to two (2) graduating seniors from the Peru Elementary School District, with plans to pursue an education major in college. Class rank, GPA, financial need and other factors may be considered. Essay on "Why I want to be an educator?" Roger J. Chamlin Memorial ScholarshipThe Roger J. Chamlin Memorial Scholarship was established by the Chamlin family to honor the service and commitment to the betterment of community which Roger embodied in his 50+ years as a Civil Engineer. This $1,000 scholarship is available to a student who will be majoring in engineering, architecture or other STEM related field. You must have at least a cumulative gpa of 3.5 and list your extracurricular activities. Strong academic background in Mathematics and Science and preference given to varsity athlete. Scholarship for the Legal ProfessionThis one-time, $750 scholarship was established by Nancy Kochis and Brian Towne for the sole purpose of providing monetary assistance to graduating seniors entering into forensic science, criminal justice, law, or a related field. This scholarship is open to any graduating LP senior going into forensic science, criminal justice, law, or a related field. In addition, the student must have or is currently taking the Forensic Science class at LPHS, as well as a minimum cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA. Preference may be given if a student has a financial need. The scholarship will be paid directly to the student’s institution upon providing proof of enrollment in college to L-P High School. List school/community involvement; letters of recommendation required. Thomas J. Kujawa Memorial ScholarshipIn memory of Thomas J. Kujawa, a registered nurse who practiced anesthesia for many years in South Dakota, Illinois, Texas, and Georgia, he has established a $1,000 scholarship to an L-P senior pursuing nursing. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in nursing, is accepted to a 2- or 4-year college or university, and type an essay on: "Why I have chosen to become a nurse." Tirza B. Ennor Mathematics ScholarshipThis scholarship in honor of Tirza B. Ennor, former math teacher at L-P, is awarded to a graduating senior of L-P High School who is a resident of Dist. 120 and has attended L-P High School for at least 3 years. The student must have completed 4 years of college preparatory math, plan to enroll in college upon graduation from high school in math 7th semester, and have demonstrated good character throughout their high school career. Financial need will be a major consideration as well. List extracurricular and community activities; honors/awards/work activities; 2 qualifications for this scholarship are financial need and good character; briefly comment on how you meet these qualifications. Tonica Teachers UnionThe Tonica Association of Federated Teachers and Support Staff’s Education Scholarship is in the amount of $250.00. Applications are open to seniors who graduated from Tonica Elementary School District and plan to further their education in any area. List school activities/community, church and service club activities. Explain career plans; describe commitment to furthering your education; explain why you feel you should be recipient of this scholarship. Wagenknecht ScholarshipThis scholarship is a renewable $2,500 for 4 years, awarded solely to the top students in their class based on class rank and GPA. No application is required. William and Gerry Etzenbach Engineering ScholarshipThis scholarship is established in honor of LaSalle-Peru graduates William and Gerry Etzenbach. William was a long-time civil engineer and heavily involved in community service including IVCH Hospital Board and Boy Scouts. This scholarship will be awarded to one student each year in the amount of $5,000. Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be majoring in engineering and list school and community activities. |
