LS Math 1, 2, 3 ,4 (2 semesters per course)

Graduation requirement: Fulfills the math graduation requirements.
Credits: 2 (per course)
This sequence of courses is designed to develop basic computational skills in the four arithmetic processes and their applications to real life situations. Students work on money skills, counting, making change, calculating sales tax, using a cash register, and writing checks. Each course continues the instruction at the student’s level from the previous course and is taught in conjunction with LS Community Experience.
LS Social Science 1, 2, 3 ,4 (2 semesters per course)

Graduation requirement: Fulfills the United States History, American Government, and social science elective graduation requirements.
Credits: 2 (per course)
This sequence of courses covers three major units of study: American Government, Geography, and United States History. The American Government unit includes the three branches of government, state and local governments, making laws, the court system, and the constitution. The Geography unit includes state capitals, landmarks, and working with maps. The United States History unit includes American beginnings, the colonies, the World Wars, United States presidents, and inventors.

Graduation requirement: Fulfills the Physical Science, Biology, and Health graduation requirements.

This sequence of courses covers three major units of study: family science, health, and science. The family science unit includes family life, first aid, and human sexuality. The health unit includes personal health, nutrition, medicines and drugs, and disease control and prevention. The science unit includes land animals, plant life, water life, matter, motion and machines, and the earth and beyond.

This course is designed to help prepare our students to become self-supporting, productive citizens. Students will develop the employability skills necessary to make a successful transition from school to work. The curriculum is designed around work-based modules. The modules simulate various work environments (data entry, cash register, bagging, etc.). It can be incorporated into the STEP Program.

The LS English sequence of courses is designed to develop language skills that students need in their everyday lives. Language skills such as spelling, punctuation, and capitalization are applied to real life situations. Reading skills are incorporated in all levels. Reading for enjoyment is promoted in each course. Individualized instruction is given to each student based on an assessment of current skills and each course continues the instruction at the student’s level from the previous course.

This sequence of courses teaches functional literacy skills and incorporates community experience as part of the curriculum. Students are exposed to real-life community settings to teach functional math, reading, writing, social skills, and problem- solving skills. Students use real money in the community. Functional life skills are taught in the classroom and reinforced out in the community. The classes are taught in conjunction with LS Math 1, 2, 3, 4.
